I visited Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥본점), a great spot near Gyodae Station. It is seriously such a good gimbap place that I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a snack restaurant around Gyodae Station! It is also comfortable for eating alone, so it is a great place for solo diners around Gyodae too.

How to get to Halls Gimbap Main Branch from Gyodae Station Exit 1

It is five minutes from Exit 1 of Gyodae Station. Head straight out of the exit, then turn right, and you will find the gimbap shop. It was fairly easy to find, which was nice.

There is a horse on the sign because it is Halls Gimbap, haha 🐴 There is outdoor seating too, so on a cool day like these, it is perfect to eat outside! You can get a little picnic feeling, even if only for a moment.

Solo-friendly seating and the self-service area

Inside, there are seats: two tables for four in the middle and a long bar table along the side. Lots of people were eating alone, so I recommend it as a perfect spot for solo dining around Gyodae.

If you eat in, there is katsuo-bushi (bonito flake) broth too. It is even made with no added seasonings, so if you are dining in, enjoy it with a warm bowl of broth, haha. There is hot water for anyone having cup ramen, too! After all, ramen is gimbap's perfect partner.

There is a tray-return station, so just leave everything there when you are done. I went at dinnertime, and there were lots of customers! Plenty of people were having a simple dinner, and there were seriously so many delivery orders too, so I could tell this is a popular Gyodae Station spot.

Halls Gimbap Main Branch used to be Ot Gimbap Seocho. I heard it is now starting fresh under its new name. The flavor, care, cooking tools, and even the staff are all the same as before, so keep that in mind when you visit!

As a gimbap specialist, it had so many kinds of gimbap. I chose by appearance, but they all looked so delicious that I had a hard time deciding what to get!! They also have chicken gangjeong (Korean sweet-and-crispy fried chicken), and apparently it is a must-try here. I could not just pass it by, so I ordered both gimbap and chicken gangjeong.

There is also a wide selection of cup ramen and drinks. They go nicely with gimbap, making them great for eating in.

With the gimbap and chicken gangjeong together, the table felt so abundant, haha. I love gimbap with less rice, and the rice here was thin, exactly my style ♥️

Jindo green onion tuna gimbap

The Jindo green onion tuna gimbap has moist tuna mayo wrapped in green onion! The texture and flavor of the green onion were such a great kick. I worried it might be spicy, but it had just the right amount of green onion, so I enjoyed it.

Spam gimbap

The Spam gimbap had savory-salty Spam, egg, and cucumber, and the combination of all three was so good. But it has lots of cucumber, so I would not recommend it if you dislike cucumber! I like cucumber, so I loved it.

Double cheese egg gimbap

The double cheese egg gimbap has nutty cheddar cheese. Soft egg with salty cheese—it tastes exactly as delicious as you would imagine!

The cheese gimbap also came with a dipping sauce, which made it even better.

Halls chicken gangjeong

I really hope you try the Halls chicken gangjeong! It was so crispy, with spicy Cheongyang peppers on top, and seriously delicious. It would not be an exaggeration to call this a chicken gangjeong hotspot 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I think it would be even tastier eaten hot. Highly recommend the chicken gangjeong!
