What is Baekho Yangdaechang at Isu Station?

Baekho Yangdaechang (백호양대창) is a charcoal-grilled offal BBQ restaurant near Isu Station, and its signature dish is yangdaechang, grilled for you by the staff. I was craving daechang (beef large intestine) and went looking for a good place, and found Baekho Yangdaechang, an Isu Station favorite! It's close to the station, so it works well as a meeting spot, and it was packed in the evening haha
The taste is great, but what I loved most was that the staff grill it for you, so you get it at its best without any effort haha The food menu is well stocked too, so it's a solid full meal. If you're looking for a good place at Isu Station for offal or daechang, I recommend giving it a try!!

Yangdaechang lets you enjoy chewy teukyang (premium beef tripe) together with plump, juicy daechang ✨ The staff grill it with such skilled hands haha

The charcoal aroma soaked into the yangdaechang is seriously delicious,,!

You can book on Naver, so if you plan to visit before 7pm, it's best to reserve ahead. I left work on time and luckily there was a table haha If you're going before 7pm, I recommend booking in advance~!

Baekho Yangdaechang menu and what we paid
The menu is varied, from sets to single grilled items, hot pots and meals. I hesitated between the mixed grill and yangdaechang, and since I wanted to focus on daechang and teukyang, I went with yangdaechang haha The gopchang jeongol (offal hot pot) looked amazing too, but I kept it light with spicy soft tofu stew haha They had fried eggs too, so I ordered those with rice~!!

- Spicy soft tofu stew (₩7,900)
- Fried eggs, 2 (₩1,000)

The side dishes are chives, kimchi, pickled onions, and chili peppers with ssamjang. There's also a chili sauce, which is a real treat~
How does the yangdaechang for 2 at Baekho Yangdaechang taste?

As soon as you order, a staff member grills the yangdaechang over charcoal until it's ready to eat, so all you do is wait comfortably haha

The yangdaechang is made up of chewy teukyang and plump daechang, and they looked so good even before grilling that I felt dizzy,,

The daechang is so chubby

Full of charcoal aroma,,,🔥

Golden-brown daechang🫶🏻 They grilled the teukyang alongside it too haha If I had grilled it, I'd have burnt everything ㅠㅠ They moved it all to the side so it's ready to eat haha So glossy,,✨
Daechang with chili dipping sauce and chives
The daechang is golden outside and plump and tender inside, and one bite fills your mouth with rich, fatty flavor ㅠㅠ

It's good on its own, but

dipped generously in the chili sauce, it's amazing,,,,

Eating it with chives is the real deal,,, it vanishes like cotton candy,, I wanted to order more daechang but held back because I didn't want to gain weight

Teukyang (premium beef tripe): chewy, not tough
Next up, teukyang. It wasn't tough at all, and the springy chewiness was so appealing! The more you chew, the more rich flavor comes through, and the clean taste lingers, so alternating with the daechang was so good, both of them

White rice with a fried egg instead of fried rice
At Baekho Yangdaechang you can add 2 fried eggs for ₩1,000, and I absolutely recommend ordering them with steamed rice. I thought about getting fried rice, but I was craving plain white rice. Definitely add these fried eggs!!!!! Honestly, rice topped with a fried egg and eaten with the tofu stew is insanely good

I could finish a bowl of rice even without meat,,
What does Baekho Yangdaechang's spicy soft tofu stew (₩7,900) taste like?
The spicy soft tofu stew (eolkeun sundubu-jjigae) is ₩7,900, with a spicy, refreshing broth containing kimchi, soft tofu and clams. At an offal place you absolutely need a hot, spicy stew!!!!

What would I have done if I hadn't ordered this spicy, refreshing tofu stew that suits Korean tastes so perfectly?

The broth is fiery like Yeol Ramyeon (a spicy instant noodle brand), so it's just plain delicious. Ramen noodles as an add-on would have been amazing. It's packed with kimchi, soft tofu and clams, and the savory depth from the ingredients soaked nicely into the broth.

Taking a spoonful between bites of yangdaechang cleaned up my palate, so it was the perfect side. A perfect meal
Baekho Yangdaechang at Isu Station: final verdict
If you want proper yangdaechang at Isu Station, I recommend Baekho Yangdaechang! They grill chewy teukyang and plump daechang over charcoal at their best so you can eat with no effort, and with the spicy tofu stew and meal menu, it was satisfying for everything from a quick dinner to a night of drinks.
