Gyeongsan Korean restaurant with individual brazier sets: Cafe Dongi

In short

Cafe Dongi Yeungnam University Art Center Branch is a Korean restaurant on the second floor of Cheonma Art Center in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk. I tried the charcoal-grilled spicy pork and bulgogi individual brazier sets, plus mini nuruk-aged tangsuyuk, with unlimited fried eggs, multigrain rice, snacks, and tea. Verdict: the smoky individual meals and generous self-service bar were especially satisfying.

There is a dedicated parking area here. Parking registration is available, so it would be good to ask at the counter.

There is a side entrance to Cheonma Art Center. Go up to the second floor through that entrance and you will find the restaurant.

Inside, the restaurant has four- to six-person tables, a separate waiting area, and plenty of space.

Spacious four- and six-person tables at Cafe Dongi

Once seated, you can check information about the membership, member-only benefits, and even a free-coupon event for Dongi’s nuruk-aged tangsuyuk. I recommend joining if you visit often.

There are hair ties at every table, so I recommend using one if you have long hair.

Restaurant seating with a food-delivery robot

After sitting down, I spotted a robot that carries the food. I recommend watching it in the video.

Kiosk ordering and the self-service bar

Now, it was time to choose the menu. If you need to register your parking, it would be good to ask at the counter. Also, keep in mind that diners return their own trays.

You order through the kiosk, and I found a wide range of choices: sides, new and seasonal dishes, drinks, individual Korean set meals, individual table meals, and children’s meals.

Unlimited fried eggs and multigrain rice

Having looked over the menu, I was going to take a quick look at the banchan (Korean side dishes). I recommend enjoying the video first.

What I really loved was that you can make unlimited fried eggs with the side dishes. Pour cooking oil into the frying pan, then—

—just place as many eggs as you want in the pan and cook them! I recommend taking a moment to watch the fried-egg video, too.

I also really liked the unlimited multigrain rice. Snacks and tea were unlimited as well, which made dessert very nice, too.

The robot I saw earlier delivered the signature dishes. And there were the individual brazier spicy pork and bulgogi set meals we ordered! I recommend taking a moment to enjoy the individual brazier spicy pork and bulgogi sets in the video.

The [individual brazier] Dongi charcoal-grilled spicy pork Korean set meal had such a great lineup.

It came with charcoal-grilled spicy pork, stir-fried anchovies, dried radish strips, pickled radish, omija tea, and doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew). Since the fried eggs are self-service, I recommend making them before the food arrives.

Now I was going to try the charcoal-grilled spicy pork, cooked at a high temperature of 300 degrees. Please enjoy the video for a moment.

A bite of smoky charcoal-grilled spicy pork

After one bite of the charcoal-grilled spicy pork, I really loved its gentle smoky aroma. It was sweet and spicy, making it a perfect food to eat with rice.

Omija tea after the spicy pork meal

The side-dish selection was great, too, and it all paired beautifully with rice alongside the spicy pork. There is omija tea as well, so it was lovely to enjoy a cup after the meal.

I was also going to try the [individual brazier] Dongi charcoal-grilled bulgogi Korean set meal.

The bulgogi came with vegetables on top, and I thought it would be nice to eat them together. Please enjoy the video for a moment.

Perhaps because it was charcoal-grilled bulgogi, the smoky aroma was so good. I decided to take a bite right away.

A moist bite of soy-sauce pork bulgogi

After actually taking a bite, I really loved the moist juices of the bulgogi. Since it was soy-sauce pork bulgogi, it had a pleasantly clean, mild flavor.

The doenjang-jjigae and assorted side dishes also went so well with the rice. The individual brazier meal includes omija tea, and I thought it was really nice to have a cup and chat after eating.

I recommend enjoying the doenjang-jjigae in the video for a moment. There was a generous amount of stew, and you can enjoy unlimited fried eggs, too.

Going in for a sip of cola! I recommend taking a moment to enjoy the food in the video.

Dongi mini nuruk-aged tangsuyuk

Dongi mini nuruk-aged tangsuyuk

This is Dongi’s mini nuruk-aged tangsuyuk (Korean sweet-and-sour fried pork), one of the signature dishes. Please enjoy the video for a moment.

When I took a bite of Dongi’s nuruk tangsuyuk, I really loved that it was crispy outside and moist inside! It is so delicious dipped in the tangsuyuk sauce, so I recommend dipping it right in!

Empty-bowl proof

Whenever I visit a delicious place, there is something I always do in return. It is empty-bowl proof!

From the main dishes to the side dishes, soup, and dessert, I loved every part of this meal from beginning to end.
