Seoul Pimatgol Chinese restaurant, 2nd-floor loft seats: Cheonghwa
In short
Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon is a Taiwanese-style Chinese restaurant spread over two floors in the Pimatgol arcade on the first floor of the Lemeilleur building in Jongno, Seoul, between Jongak and Gwanghwamun stations. Arriving around 6pm on a Saturday, both floors of Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon were full, so the table was upstairs in the loft-like second floor, with beef knife-cut noodles at 11,000 won, a yuxiang eggplant rice bowl at 10,800 won and crystal dumplings at 9,800 won. The deep beef broth and the eggplant rice bowl, tried here for the first time, were the standouts.

I visited Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon, a Jongno dosakmyeon (knife-cut noodle) spot in Gwanghwamun where local Chinese chefs make authentic, traditional flavors by hand.

Where is Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon, and is there parking?
This Gwanghwamun favorite sits between Gwanghwamun Station (Line 5) and Jongak Station (Line 1), taking up the 1st and 2nd floors of the Lemeilleur building — a bigger Taiwanese-style Chinese restaurant than I expected. ✔️ You can also park at the Lemeilleur building's basement lot, which made driving there easy.

It's located inside the 1st floor arcade (Pimatgol) of the Lemeilleur building, so it's easy to find.

What's on the menu at Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon?
Besides uyuk dosakmyeon, Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon offers a wide range of authentic Chinese dishes — dim sum, kkwabaerou (sweet and sour pork), spicy Sichuan chicken and pork, eoyang gaji deopbap (eggplant rice bowl), other rice bowls, fried dishes, and more. Prices are reasonable too, making it a good spot for a light meal or a few drinks. Since I drove, I couldn't have a beer... which was a real shame haha.

Saturday 6pm: both floors full and the loft-like second floor
The 1st floor interior. I visited around 6pm on a Saturday, and both floors were packed with customers. The smell of spices hit you right from the entrance — total real-deal restaurant vibes.

There was no room on the 1st floor, so we headed up to the 2nd floor. It had a bit of a loft feel! There were also tables set up nicely for groups. Quite a few families were there when I visited too.

What we ordered and what it cost
We got a table and ordered haha. I got: ✔️ Uyuk Dosakmyeon 11,000 won ✔️ Eoyang Gaji Deopbap 10,800 won ✔️ Sujeongdal Mandu 9,800 won

Basic side dishes came out first — roasted peanuts and Taiwanese-style cabbage kimchi (cabbage pickle).

Beef knife-cut noodles, 11,000 won
Uyuk Dosakmyeon. Broth simmered directly from bones and noodles hand-cut with a knife give this dish its unique texture.

The combination of the beef topping, wide flat noodles, and rich broth was so good. There was more meat than I expected, and the noodles were super chewy. The broth was salty and deeply rich, packed with umami — I really enjoyed it.

Yuxiang eggplant rice bowl, 10,800 won
Eoyang Gaji Deopbap. Eggplant fried in fresh oil, served over rice for a moist, tender bite.

This was my first time trying eoyang gaji deopbap, and honestly... it was soooooo good. A flavor that anyone would like! Garlic scapes, mushrooms, and carrots were stir-fried together with it, and the combination worked really well. The sauce was sweet and spicy, and it went perfectly with rice. At first I wondered why they gave so much rice, but it turned out to be a total rice-thief dish haha — mixing everything together at the end was the perfect finish^^ Highly recommend.

Crystal dumplings (chive and shrimp), 9,800 won
Sujeongdal Mandu (chive and shrimp dim sum). Whole shrimp and chives come together in dumplings with a translucent, chewy wrapper.

The sujeongdal mandu (6 pieces) arrived in a bamboo steamer. True to its name, these crescent-moon-shaped dumplings had wrappers so thin you could see the golden chive filling inside. The wrapper was super chewy, and dipped in soy sauce, it was so delicious. The strong chive flavor paired well with the texture of the shrimp.

Is Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon worth a weekend dinner?
Since it's made by local chefs specializing in Chinese cuisine, it was great to get a real taste of authentic Taiwanese flavors. If you're looking for a good uyuk myeon (beef noodle) spot near Gwanghwamun, I recommend giving Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon a visit :)
