I visited Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon for dinner right after seeing the exhibition at Deoksugung. The exterior had that distinct Chinese restaurant vibe, so it wasn't hard to find at all. It was clean but eye-catching, making it easy to spot while looking for somewhere to eat near Gwanghwamun~

How busy is a weekend evening? Full to the second floor

Inside, the restaurant spans two floors, so it was bigger than I expected. Even though I visited on a weekend evening, the place was packed with diners — it was busier than I thought! If we'd arrived just a bit later, I think we would've had to wait. If you're planning a weekend evening visit, it's a good idea to go a little early. There are plenty of tables, so it looked like a good spot for families, friends, or couples, and the overall atmosphere felt lively.

As the name suggests, Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon's signature dish is the uyuk dosakmyeon, but there was also a wide range of other Chinese dishes on offer! 🥢

Beyond the beef noodles, there were dim sum, rice bowls, and various cooked dishes — plenty of options to choose from depending on your taste.

I started with the dish I was most excited about — uyuk dosakmyeon! Tender beef sat in a rich broth, and what really stood out was the chewy, thick texture unique to knife-cut noodles, quite different from regular noodles. The noodles were wide and thick, so they had great bite, and eating them with the hot broth made for a satisfying, hearty dinner! 😊

Shumai (steamed pork dumplings)

The shumai we ordered alongside had a springy shrimp texture with the first bite. It was packed with filling, so it was light and satisfying to eat, and it paired well as a side dish with the uyuk dosakmyeon 🥟 It was a good one to try a bit of if you're sharing several dishes!

Yuxiang pork rice bowl

Personally, this was my favorite dish — the yuxiang pork rice bowl! The salty, savory yuxiang sauce went really well with the rice, and with meat and vegetables mixed in, it was filling enough as a single bowl.

It wasn't just intensely flavored — eaten together with the rice, the seasoning was well balanced, so I kept reaching for more~ Alternating it with the hot broth of the uyuk dosakmyeon was a great combination too. 👍🏻
