Modak Texas Barbecue Dongdaegu Branch (모닥 텍사스바베큐 동대구점) is at 5-1 Dongbu-ro 34-gil, Dong-gu, Daegu. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00–22:00, with a break from 15:30 to 17:00, and closed on Mondays. For parking, you can use the MD Building lot, and for meals of ₩50,000 or more they cover ₩4,000, which is 1 hour 30 minutes.

There are so many good restaurants around Dongdaegu Station and Daegu Shinsegae department store, haha, and lots of cafés with a nice mood and all kinds of desserts too. I'd been meaning to come here for ages, and I finally got a good chance to eat here, so here's my review!

Where is Modak Texas Barbecue Dongdaegu, and how is parking?

Modak Texas Barbecue Dongdaegu Branch is just across from the Dongdaegu transit terminal and close to Dongdaegu Station too, a steak spot you can reach easily. As you probably know, parking in front of the shop is tight, so you'll need a nearby public lot. If you use the paid MD Building lot, they support ₩4,000 of it.

We used that lot, handed over ₩4,000 in cash in advance, and got ₩4,000 off at the restaurant. That's how we got the support!

Atmosphere and seating: good for families and groups?

Most tables are 4-person tables and there are 8-person tables too, so it works well for groups or a family meal. From the outside to the inside, it feels like you've landed in America. A real Dongdaegu Station favorite!

Lots of families were there when I visited! I think it would also be fine for an anniversary or a date.

There are disposable aprons, and the Wi-Fi password is on the wall. Let's all check it and log in~ (I skimmed it and was connected in a flash)

2-person Memphis Platter: how fast does it come out, and how big is it?

What we ordered was the 2-person Memphis Platter set.

I think the 2-person Memphis Platter came out in under 10 minutes. I figured the meat would take a while to prepare, but it came out so fast!!! When you walk into a restaurant really hungry, a slow kitchen is hard to wait out, right? Even though this is barbecue, it was set out so quickly that both of us went wide-eyed, and it was one of the things I liked, haha

The 2-person Memphis Platter set comes with 150g of brisket, 150g of pulled pork, 3 buffalo wings and 250g of spare ribs. When we first sat down, the two of us are big eaters and I thought it might not be enough. But we totally overestimated ourselves. It's an amount that fills you up completely.

The staff member was kind and told us to take photos first, haha. They explained everything one by one and even dug out the bone of the barbecue in the middle for us. All three meats were good quality and tender, and our chopsticks didn't stop.

Brisket: the best of the three meats

It was my first time having brisket on its own at a barbecue place, so I was looking forward to it. Of the three meats, I think it was the best. It melts in your mouth, and it's seasoned just enough that it tastes clean and mild even by itself. Put it on top with the onion and tomato sauce from the platter and you get a whole new world...

Spare ribs: wrapped in a tortilla, they're great

The spare ribs were as melt-in-your-mouth tender as the brisket, and wrapped in a tortilla they were excellent. The sauce is sweet and a little salty, so I think it's a dish that everyone from small kids to older folks can enjoy.

Is Modak Texas Barbecue Dongdaegu worth going back to?

Modak Texas Barbecue Dongdaegu Branch has such a varied menu that eating here was fun, haha. I enjoyed it enough that I plan to return, and next time I'll bring my family.
