On a chilly, shivery day when you're craving something hot and brothy, I went to Jongga Mandu in Jongno 3-ga! It's well known as a mandu hot pot spot near Jongno 3-ga Station, and the handmade dumplings are delicious. Let's get started.

Jongga Mandu location and atmosphere
Jongga Mandu is a hot pot restaurant about a 4-minute walk from Exit 15 of Jongno 3-ga Station! It's on the ground floor, so it's easy to visit.

Inside is a big open hall, and it draws all kinds of people, from large groups to casual get-togethers!

Handmade mandu shaped right by the entrance
Jongga Mandu makes its mandu (dumplings) by hand! Someone was folding them right by the entrance, haha. Seeing them made from scratch made me trust the place even more.

Side dishes at the self-serve bar
There's a separate self-serve bar for side dishes, so if you run out, just grab more yourself! Small plates, pickled radish, kimchi and more are all set out.

Jongga Mandu menu: clear, spicy, or half-and-half mandu hot pot
The mandu hot pot (jeongol) comes with a choice of clear broth or spicy broth, and you can also get a half-and-half pot!

If it's not enough, you can add extras like mandu, rice cakes, vegetables, or kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), so it's easy to make a hearty meal 👍🏻
Clear mandu hot pot for two: review
The two of us ordered the clear hot pot for a clean-tasting broth. Pickled radish and kimchi came out neatly as side dishes.

The pot arrives filled with the clear broth, and whenever it ran low, the staff came over and refilled it for us, so it was comfortable and tasty to eat, haha.

How to eat Jongga Mandu's hot pot, step by step
They bring out the vegetables, meat, noodles, and mandu, and once the broth starts boiling, put the mandu in first! Stir now and then so nothing sticks to the bottom~

Meat and kimchi mandu, 4 per person
The mandu in the hot pot come in two kinds, meat and kimchi, 4 each per person. They go so well with the shabu-shabu-style ingredients that I really loved it as a hot pot 💛

The meat and kimchi fillings are packed, right? The wrappers are thin and chewy but the filling is thick, so I felt full just from the mandu 🥟

Dipped lightly in the soy sauce they give you, they have a great savory kick 👍🏻 They're seasoned well enough that they're tasty even without the sauce, haha. These are handmade mandu I'd want to take home. No wonder so many people come for the mandu hot pot near Jongno 3-ga Station! Highly recommended when you want something warm to settle your stomach 🥟
How does the clear hot pot broth taste?
True to its name, the clear broth is clean, with a refreshing flavor from the vegetable stock. There were lots of vegetables too, so the hot pot for two with no extra ingredients was still filling!

With the fresh vegetables and all the ingredients, the broth gets deeper the longer it boils, haha. It's exactly the kind of broth you want to pour rice into. Scoop yourself a bowl ahead of time when you're nearly done!!!

I only put in as much meat as I'd eat and cooked it briefly. It was tender, not tough, and went so well with the vegetables, haha.

Finishing with kalguksu
Once you've eaten most of it, add the kalguksu noodles to finish right to the end! Mandu, then vegetables and meat, then noodles: a hearty meal start to finish. I'm officially a believer in this Jongno 3-ga Station mandu hot pot spot 👍🏻

Verdict: I'd go back to Jongga Mandu
Want a hot, brothy meal with family or friends? Jongga Mandu gives you a filling meal, from mandu to vegetables, meat, and kalguksu.
