Moyeon Mapo, the Gongdeok Korean BBQ with valet

Moyeon Mapo (모연 마포본점) has valet parking, friendly staff and neatly presented food, so it's a Gongdeok Korean BBQ spot anyone can enjoy, whoever you bring. This time I came all the way from Hongdae, and it was totally worth the trip. I recommend it wholeheartedly, so let's get right to it! (Visited: October 6, 2026)

How do you park at Moyeon Mapo?

Moyeon Mapo offers valet parking behind the restaurant. It costs ₩3,000, paid when you leave. It's also a 3-minute walk from Exit 1 of Mapo Station, so it's easy to reach by public transport too!

I drove that day, and as soon as I pulled up behind the building, a valet attendant took the car and I could walk straight into the restaurant.

Atmosphere and room seating at Moyeon Mapo

The restaurant is much bigger than I expected, with the kind of atmosphere that makes you feel you should be treating someone. It leans toward upscale!

Room-style seating divided by blinds at Moyeon Mapo

Every table is set up room-style, though not fully enclosed: there are blinds hung between the tables. Still, it feels private, so your group can eat comfortably!

Moyeon Mapo menu: bulgogi set for lunch

Beef is the main menu at Moyeon Mapo, and at lunch there's a separate lunch special bulgogi, so the bulgogi set seems like the better deal at midday. There's also a good range of alcohol and even Pyongyang naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), so the menu is really solid.

I ordered the lunch special for two, and the basic side dishes that came out were neat and really clean-tasting.

The wraps in particular included bell pepper, kelp and roasted seaweed (gim), which went really well with the bulgogi.

If you order the lunch menu, each person gets a setting like in the photos. There was abalone and the stew was delicious too, so I ate with great satisfaction!

Staff-grilled bulgogi: when does it taste best?

Staff bring out two portions of bulgogi and grill it themselves from start to finish, so it was effortless and the meat tasted even better!

Maybe because it's bulgogi, it cooks very quickly, and the meat is good quality, so it's tender and really delicious wrapped up in the leaves.

Once the staff finish grilling, they move the meat to the side. If it sits too long it gets hard and loses its flavor, so eat the meat first, quickly. It was also better eaten with the side dishes rather than on its own.

My favorite was the bulgogi wrapped in roasted seaweed. Totally recommended!

Pot rice and butter

The pot rice (solbap) is hot, so be careful. It comes with butter, and mixing it in should add more flavor. I don't really like butter so I skipped it, but it was delicious even without.

Eating pot rice together with bulgogi

I tried the bulgogi this way and that way, and it was good however I ate it. I think your parents would be satisfied if you came here together!

Finishing with Pyongyang naengmyeon

Finally, I was so curious about the Pyongyang naengmyeon at Moyeon Mapo that I ordered it. Unlike other places, it has a really generous amount of noodles, and it's mild in flavor and easy to share along the way!

Moyeon Mapo bulgogi set: overall review

I had a tasty bulgogi set this time and it was much better than I expected, a very satisfying meal. It's good for taking parents or treating guests, so do stop by. Best of all, valet was available, so there were no parking worries. Next time I'll go back for regular beef instead of bulgogi!
