Can you get a patio table at Jeongyukdo on a weeknight without a reservation?

Jeongyukdo has an outdoor garden, so you can eat pork belly out on the patio (yajang, an outdoor drinking-and-eating setup)?! It's huge haha. The weather's been nice lately, so lots of people were eating outside!

I showed up on a weeknight evening without a reservation, and there was a patio table free, so I had my patio pork belly haha

With the string lights up, it felt a bit like camping, which I loved. The place is big, so it works for Hapjeong company dinners, dates and family gatherings. There's also a spot to rest after your meal, though it doubles as the waiting area haha

Jeongyukdo's indoor dining room and private rooms

Let me show you the inside of Jeongyukdo!

Main hall inside Jeongyukdo

There are even celebrity autographs on the wall haha. The interior is spacious, so there are private rooms!? That's why a lot of groups come for company dinners haha

The main hall is mostly 4-person tables, and it was really quiet and cozy haha. No smoke either!! The meat is busy aging away in the meantime~_~

Jeongyukdo menu: set options and corkage

Jeongyukdo menu showing the set options

Jeongyukdo has set menus in various combinations, so you get good value! The Hanbon Special Set has hangjeongsal (pork jowl), gabrisal (pork rib-cap) and galmaegisal (pork skirt); the Hanbon Set has galbi, pork belly and pork neck; and there's a hanwoo set too haha

Corkage is ₩5,000 per person!! It would be nice to bring a good bottle for a company dinner.

Jeongyukdo's dipping sauces and side dishes

The basic sauces are pink salt, wasabi and whole-grain mustard. The basic sides are sweet mu saengchae (shredded radish), gochu jangajji (pickled chili peppers), and squid jeotgal (salted squid) mixed with flying fish roe! The squid jeotgal was so good...

There's also pa-chae (shredded scallion salad) and onions. Jeongyukdo uses charcoal!! Meat grilled over charcoal, yum haha. The heat is strong.

Jeongyukdo's 49,000-won pork set: how much meat do you get?

Jeongyukdo pork set with galbi, pork belly and flower-cut pork neck

The Jeongyukdo pork set is ₩49,000, and from the top it's galbi, king oyster mushrooms, pork belly and kkot moksal (flower-cut pork neck). The color of the meat is seriously amazing, right? wow

It's listed as 500g, but they gave us 538g haha. Lucky lol. The meat must be really well aged, because the color... oh wow..

Hanwoo doenjang stew, the set's side option

When you order a Jeongyukdo set, you can choose between meljeot or hanwoo doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and I went with the doenjang stew!

Hanwoo doenjang stew chosen with the pork set

The stew was packed with rich hanwoo beef, tofu, enoki mushrooms and onions, and it had a clean flavor!

How to grill the fresh pork galbi, and how it tastes

The galbi has a nice balance of fat. Cook both sides a bit, then cut the meat off the rib bones, and then just brown it nicely haha. It's fairly fatty, so it slices up super tender and easy.

Once it was cooked, I dipped a piece in pink salt, and the rich flavor of the pork fat was superb. The ratio of fat to lean meat is just right, so it was really rich and delicious.

When it starts to feel a little greasy, top it with wasabi or whole-grain mustard and it's even better haha

Thick-cut pork belly and flower-cut pork neck

Next, put the pork neck and belly on too!! Jeongyukdo cuts its pork belly really thick, so I cooked all six sides evenly, then cut it into bite-size pieces to finish cooking haha

But wow, both the pork belly and the pork neck were so good, you guys T_T Jeongyukdo... yep, it really is a great Korean BBQ spot near Hapjeong Station.

King oyster mushrooms grilled with the meat

They grilled the king oyster mushrooms without burning them too! Super chewy and delicious.

Extra pork galbi at Jeongyukdo for 18,000 won: how big is one serving?

One extra serving of Jeongyukdo pork galbi

Jeongyukdo's pork galbi is ₩18,000 per serving. It's tender, mild pork galbi where you enjoy the natural texture of fresh ribs. It was so good earlier that I added one more serving...

Extra pork galbi grilling over charcoal

Grilling hard again. Ta-da haha. This is what one serving looks like! It's 250g including the bone, so it's not a huge amount of meat. But you know the best part is always gnawing the meat off the bone, right? haha

I grilled the onions that came as a side dish too haha. They were seasoned, so they were tasty lol

Jeongyukdo near Hapjeong Station: is it worth it?

Jeongyukdo doesn't have a huge number of side dishes, but every one was delicious, so I mixed and matched them with the meat haha. The meat quality is great, and while most popular patio spots these days are loud and rowdy, Jeongyukdo is in a quiet Hapjeong alley, so it's peaceful and the atmosphere is lovely. Really recommend it!
