Yangjaeok is a Korean restaurant specializing in pork gomtang (clear pork soup with rice) and bossam (boiled pork slices), a 3-minute walk from Yangjae Station in Gangnam, Seoul. I felt like I needed something warm today, so I went to Yangjaeok, a Korean restaurant in Yangjae Station that focuses on Korean dishes! I ordered pork gomtang (pork bone soup), dumplings and bossam (boiled pork wraps), and the first spoonful of broth the moment the gomtang arrived was sooo deep and rich. I loved both the gomtang and the bossam..🤍

Being a Korean restaurant in Yangjae Station, the exterior is decorated like a hanok (traditional tiled-roof house)!

This is the juansang (drinking table set) sign out front! I visited in the evening, and lots of guests were having makgeolli (rice wine) with a juansang, you know? Every side dish and side menu at Yangjaeok is tasty and generous, and I heard four dishes come out together on one table so you can try a bit of everything, which sounds perfect for a juansang🥂

How crowded is Yangjaeok at dinner time?
The inside of Yangjaeok is very clean! I arrived around 6:30 pm, and wow, by 7 o'clock it was full in no time. There's a reason popular places are packed..😶🫶🏻 Nobody goes anywhere that isn't good, right?

I saw people eating alone in the evening, and groups of two or three sharing one juansang for a light drink.

What we ordered at Yangjaeok and the prices
We ordered 2 pork gomtang, king dumplings and a small bossam. We came for dinner rather than drinks, so we picked mostly meal dishes, and pork gomtang at ₩11,000 is such a kind price these days..🤍

- Pork gomtang for 2
- Bossam (small)
- 6 king dumplings
Basic side dishes at Yangjaeok
The basic side dishes at Yangjaeok are lettuce, pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi), geotjeori (fresh kimchi) and pickled garlic! The kimchi was so good and went perfectly with the mild, nutty pork gomtang.

How is the broth and how much meat is in Yangjaeok's pork gomtang?
Yangjaeok's pork gomtang has a clear, milky-white broth🫶🏻 I took a spoonful of the broth first as soon as it came out, and it was really clean and nutty, and the broth was super deep!

The rice comes already mixed into the gomtang! And the amount of meat is seriously enormous. As you can see, even a casual stir catches more meat than rice. It's a gomtang with really a lot of meat..💘

I heard Yangjaeok's pork gomtang uses only 100% chilled Korean pork (hanbok). Maybe because it's good meat, the broth had no gamey smell at all and had a clean savory depth, which I loved..✨

Scooping up lots of rice and meat is really filling! It's mild and deep with nothing artificial, so I kept slurping the broth without thinking. Drinking it....🫣

When you're eating the mild pork gomtang, you start craving spicy kimchi, and putting a piece of well-fermented geotjeori on top is the best..❤️

Are Yangjaeok's small bossam and king dumplings worth ordering as sides?
We ordered the king dumplings and the small bossam together to eat plenty as sides! They come out as generous as the main dishes, right?

Tender bossam with no gamey smell
Yangjaeok's bossam meat is boiled so tender and soft!!! Maybe because they use top-grade Korean pork, there was absolutely no porky smell. The juicy texture is well preserved too, so yummy! I love it so much... everything is delicious 🫧

The fat-to-lean ratio of the bossam was just right too! Not too fatty or greasy, and the lean parts were soft without being dry.

Wrapping it in a big lettuce wrap with the radish strips and kimchi that come with it is seriously delicious! I instantly understood why everyone has a drink with a juansang in the evening🫣 It's so good.. you'll know when you try it..🫶🏻

King dumplings with a subtle pepper aroma
I figured Yangjaeok's king dumplings would be like ordinary dumplings, but unlike store-bought ones they have a distinct subtle pepper aroma, so they were much more savory and fragrant. The filling is packed with meat and the wrappers are chewy〰️ With hot pork gomtang plus bossam and dumplings, I left really full and satisfied after polishing it all off!

Yangjaeok in a nutshell
