Dunsan-dong, Daejeon pasta restaurant with sunlit window seats: Plate

In short

Plate Dunsan Branch is a fresh pasta restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building on Dunsan-ro in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. At a sunny window seat beside the big floor-to-ceiling windows, the writer ordered the pasta set and ate a classic meatball bolognese (regular spaghetti) and a steak cream ragu (squid ink spaghetti). The food was good, but the daylight and atmosphere stood out most. Plate Dunsan Branch is an easy recommendation for anyone looking for an atmospheric pasta spot in Dunsan-dong for a date or blind date.

Window seats at Plate Dunsan Branch: how is the daytime light?

The restaurant has a white-toned interior and big floor-to-ceiling windows, so the window-seat light is especially pretty if you visit during the day. If the sun gets too strong, the staff will lower the blinds for you.

The inside was bigger than I expected, and the white tones with soft lighting gave it a really clean feel. The window seats were especially great! 🥹 Sunlight pours in through the large windows, and the daylight is gorgeous. It felt perfect for eating while looking at the view outside. If too much sun comes in, the staff will lower the blinds for you!

Plate Dunsan Branch also has high chairs, which is nice for families. I haven't seen many Western restaurants with them, so what a thoughtful touch.. 👍

There's a seating area to the left of the entrance too :) The tables are spaced comfortably so it never felt cramped, and the overall quiet mood was good for talking. It looked fine for a date and also for a relaxed meal with friends.

  • Pasta set: pasta + salad + soup + bread; they explained it's about 20% cheaper than à la carte :)
  • Steak set: pasta + skirt steak or pork ribs + salad + bread + 2 soups! It's about 15% cheaper than à la carte, so keep that in mind!

I loved that you can choose the noodle yourself. Each one has a description, so just write down the number of the noodle you want! If you don't choose, they'll use whichever noodle suits the pasta.

Bread and soup served first with the pasta set

Bread, soup and salad come out first with the set

I ordered the pasta set, so the bread, soup and salad came out first. The bread arrived warm, slightly crispy outside and soft inside, and the soup was sweet and mild, so I kept going back for more; it's an easy starter. The salad was good too :)

How do the classic meatball bolognese and steak cream ragu taste?

Classic meatball bolognese (set), regular spaghetti noodles

The main pasta passed the look test right away. The sauce coated the noodles well and the meat topping was generous, so the quality was better than I expected. The noodles were cooked just right and I enjoyed it :) I switched to the regular spaghetti noodle! It pairs well and tasted great haha

Steak cream ragu with squid ink spaghetti noodles

I switched the cream pasta to squid ink spaghetti noodles! They were really chewy and springy, and delicious :) I liked that there was steak on top too! *You can also choose risotto, so keep that in mind.
