Songpa jazz bar, front-row Friday date with steak and vongole: Allegro

In short

Allegro is a live jazz restaurant on the 3rd floor near Songpanaru Station in Songpa-gu, Seoul. On a Friday night, the blogger and her boyfriend sat in the front row of Allegro's center hall, watching the live jazz set over a sous vide pork neck steak (33,000 won) and vongole pasta (20,000 won), with the thick steak and generous clams the highlights. Allegro is a Songpa date spot where timing your visit to the jazz sets gets you both atmosphere and good food.

Allegro is a Songpa restaurant and a newly opened Jamsil-area jazz bar. I went on a Friday night with my boyfriend and we had a lovely Jamsil date 💗

If you arrive between 7:30 and 8:10 pm or between 8:25 and 9:05 pm, you can have dinner while watching live jazz, so I highly recommend it as a Songpanaru Station date course. The atmosphere is seriously unbeatable..💕 And as a Western-style restaurant in the Jamsil area, the main dish, the sous vide pork neck steak, and the pasta were both so good!! It was a treat for both the eyes and the ears, haha

Getting to Allegro and the building exterior

Allegro is on the 3rd floor, so come into this building and take the elevator inside up.

Pasta and wine items on Allegro's outdoor menu board

I liked that you can see Allegro's menu at a glance from outside. The pasta dishes stand out, as you'd expect from a Bangi-dong pasta favorite, and there's a lunchtime happy hour event too (12:00-15:00)! Being a Jamsil jazz bar, the wine list is long as well!

Inside Allegro: the best seats for live jazz

Layout of Allegro's center hall seats and terrace seats

This is the inside of Allegro, the Jamsil jazz bar! The band was playing live right in front of the tables; the terrace seats are on the right, and the hall seats are the tables in the middle. We sat in the center hall, which is the prime spot for the jazz, so that was great, haha

The couple seats at Allegro are side by side, which made them even better 💕 Isn't the table setting for two super neat? When I opened the information board, it turned out to be a T-order (tablet ordering) screen, which was neat!

Allegro jazz set times and cover charge

Allegro's live jazz has two sets of 40 minutes each: Set 1 at 19:30-20:10 and Set 2 at 20:25-21:05. If you arrive during the sets, the cover is ₩10,000 per person on weekdays and ₩15,000 on Fri and Sat, so keep that in mind. If you're visiting for a date, it's best to time it to the live sets, right?

We were in the prime spot, almost the front row, haha. For anyone curious about the live shows at Allegro in Songpa, I took a video too!

What did we order at Allegro?

Allegro menu page including wine and whiskey

Please check the photos above for the menu at Allegro, the Jamsil jazz bar! Doesn't the food alone give off proper Jamsil Western-restaurant vibes? Since it's a jazz bar, they also sell all kinds of wine and whiskey. We ordered the following!

  • Sous vide pork neck steak ₩33,000
  • Vongole pasta ₩20,000
Warm bread served first at Allegro

First, the bread they set out! It had a soft, fluffy texture like focaccia? and it was warm and tasty~

Allegro vongole pasta: how generous are the clams?

I loved that Allegro's vongole pasta has a big portion of pasta and tons of clams!! I'd heard it's a Bangi-dong pasta favorite, and the clam meat is bigger than in a typical vongole, so the texture is great and the savory depth is no joke.

How was Allegro's signature sous vide pork neck steak?

Next came Allegro's sous vide pork neck steak! It's the signature dish and well reviewed, so I ordered it, and it was crispy outside and juicy inside and so delicious..haha! After eating it I understood why it's the signature! The thick-cut fries on the side were fluffy, and the dressing had a subtle garlic aroma that went well with the steak.

Sous vide pork neck steak being sliced tenderly

My boyfriend cut it up for me like this, and it sliced so tenderly~

Thick pork neck steak cut into bite-size pieces

Usually at Western restaurants the meat dishes are smaller than you'd expect, so you finish and don't feel like you've eaten (?), but Allegro's pork neck steak is really thick and big, so even cut into bite-size pieces it was quite a lot! This one is so good that I highly recommend it!

Is Allegro a good date spot in Songpa?

If you're still deciding on a Songpa date course, I recommend Allegro, a jazz bar that's great for special days! From the signature sous vide pork neck steak to vongole, there's a huge variety of Western dishes, as you'd expect from a Jamsil Western restaurant. The food is good too, so watching the jazz in the evening while you eat is a 100% success-rate date course, I guarantee it, haha

I think every dish would be lovely paired with wine, and the atmosphere would be great. Most of the seats are couple seats, so having dinner side by side while watching the show was so romantic 🫶 You can reserve through Catch Table.
