If you're looking for a place to eat out or hold a gathering in Bucheon, let me introduce Keunsawi Ori Jip Bucheon Okgil Main Branch (큰사위 오리집 부천옥길본점). Okgil-dong is a kind of mini new town inside Bucheon, so there are plenty of tidy restaurants, but this is a real duck gem in Bucheon's Okgil-dong, with a big parking lot, clean facilities and a menu centered on duck that is seriously generous.

There's also a course menu that lets you enjoy several dishes with your meal in one go, so I noticed lots of families visiting. Shall we take a look together?

Keunsawi Ori Jip Bucheon Okgil Main Branch: how are the parking and the atmosphere?

The restaurant has a big parking lot, so you worry less about parking on a weekend outing. It was the first thing that caught my eye when I arrived. When you're hunting for a weekend dining spot, parking is often a stress, but at Keunsawi I could let that worry go.

The interior is stylishly done in mostly wood tones. The tables are spaced fairly far apart too, so it looked like you could eat without feeling cramped.

What are the menu and prices at Keunsawi?

The most ordered item at Keunsawi is the Keunsawi Special Course, ₩23,900 per person. The menu has plenty of other options, but it seemed like most customers went for the special course.

What's at the self-serve bar?

Just like the name (큰사위 means "eldest son-in-law"), it really felt like a son-in-law was treating us to a generous spread.

Kimchi and sauces at the self-serve bar

The self-serve bar has gondeure rice (thistle rice), kimchi and various sauces. They said you can take as much as you need, so I went back for rice twice. The napa cabbage kimchi seemed freshly made, and it was really tasty. ^^

Perilla leaves, pickled radish wraps and other vegetables at the self-serve bar

There are vegetables too, like perilla leaves and pickled radish wraps, so you can eat as much as you like.

How does the Keunsawi Special Course come out?

The duck in the Keunsawi Special Course first needs 5 minutes to cook. When you visit, the staff will guide you through it in detail.

Mixing the gondeure rice with sesame oil and seasoning sauce made it a real treat. It's nice as a light bite before the duck is cooked, and it's fine to eat later with the duck too.

Vegetables to boil in the duck stew

The vegetables in the photo above go into the duck stew later to boil, and there's a lot of them. Best value, no question!

Ingredients for the fried rice

This is what you use for the fried rice. The amount was about 1.5 servings.

Steamed duck, enjoyed plain without sauce

The steamed duck (served in a cypress steamer), which comes with bean sprouts and more, had a flavor that doesn't stand out too much. The meat was very tender, so I didn't get tired of it even when I kept eating.

Steamed duck served with bean sprouts

It's tasty lightly dipped in the prepared sauces, but I'd recommend enjoying the true flavor of the duck itself. Duck is said to be good for you even on its own, and eating it steamed this way felt somehow even better!

Duck dori-tang served as half a duck

Duck dori-tang, half a duck and spicier than expected

The duck dori-tang (spicy duck stew) in the Keunsawi Special Course comes with half a duck. I think perilla seed powder was added. You might feel half a duck is a bit short, but you already have the duck meat and the duck stew, right? So please don't feel disappointed.

The duck stew was spicier than I expected. Even if they sold it as a single dish, it looks like something that would cost tens of thousands of won.

There's more duck in there than you'd think, so stir it well and fish it out. :-)

A first visit to Keunsawi: worth going back?

The Keunsawi Special Course finished with fried rice. If someone asked me to pick a good-value, healthy restaurant in Bucheon, and it had to be in Okgil-dong? Keunsawi Ori Jip Bucheon Okgil Main Branch is now my number one pick.
