My sister and I came to Daejeon on a spur-of-the-moment trip, and it was so hot that all I wanted was cold noodles, haha. So we headed to Myeonbbal Ttaenggineun Nal, a naengmyeon (cold noodle) spot near Daejeon Station, for water naengmyeon and charcoal-grilled pork :)

Inside the restaurant and how the table kiosk works

The inside of this Daejeon Station lunch spot was really clean! Even though it was past lunch hour, there were still older folks enjoying their meal✨

Every table has its own kiosk, so ordering is super convenient! Also, instead of plain water, they serve brewed tea water, which had a subtle, nutty flavor — really nice, haha.

The Myeonbbal Ttaenggineun Nal menu and what we ordered

There were so many noodle dishes on the menu~ I was drawn in by the visual of the charcoal-grilled pork naengmyeon, so I picked that, and my sister ordered the same thing! And you can't skip the juicy meat dumplings as a side to go with the naengmyeon, haha. We added those too✨ For the record, the dumplings here are seriously delicious, so I really recommend adding them when you order naengmyeon!

Charcoal-grilled pork water naengmyeon: how much meat you get

The water naengmyeon and charcoal-grilled pork we ordered came out first! The amount of pork to eat with the noodles was way more than I expected, haha. There was a subtle charcoal aroma too, which paired so well with the cold noodles!

The kimchi self-bar and the free cup of makgeolli

Side dishes are self-serve! There's napa cabbage kimchi, yeolmu (young radish) kimchi, side plates, pickled radish, scissors, makgeolli, and more~

I'd read a lot of reviews raving about the kimchi, and it really was delicious👍🏻 The yeolmu kimchi especially was totally my style, haha. It tasted even better together with the juicy dumplings :) Also, since makgeolli is free, anyone who likes it should definitely have a cup! It looked so refreshing, haha.

When you order water naengmyeon, they also give you naengmyeon sauce on the side😊 The charcoal pork looked amazing too, haha. I'm the type who has to eat meat together with my cold noodles!!

And then the savory juicy dumplings arrived too, haha. A full table for Daejeon Station lunch! I only know how to drink makgeolli, so having a cold cup along with everything would've made it even better👍🏻 Because they give diners a free drink!✨

The house cold noodle broth and the mustard sauce

It was so hot that day, and eating the cool water naengmyeon totally revived me, haha. Chewy noodles in one bite, that special naengmyeon broth in the next — completely delicious! And the portion was really generous, so it's great for a filling meal :)

There's mustard sauce on every table too, so if you want, you can add it to your naengmyeon for even more flavor☺️

For reference, this special naengmyeon broth has a depth that's different from other places — refreshing with a rich flavor. Cooling off with water naengmyeon on a scorching summer day like this and then going to line up at nearby Sungsimdang sounds like the perfect plan, haha.

Juicy meat dumplings for ₩4,000: the side worth adding

I added the juicy dumplings to go with the cold noodles, and at ₩4,000 they were an amazing deal, haha. My sister and I split three each! Also, there was chili powder mixed into the dumpling soy sauce, which showed real sense on the owner's part~~

True to their name, one bite and the juices inside were incredible!! So I really recommend eating them in one bite✨ And the meat filling inside was packed generously~~

And finally, you can't skip a cold cola, haha.
