What is Dongnae Matjip Ppyeoguijip Garak branch like?
Dongnae Matjip Ppyeoguijip (동네맛집뼈구이집) Garak branch is a pork bone grill restaurant near Ogeum Station and Garak-dong. My husband and I found a real neighborhood treasure today, so I rushed over with a review! It nails everything from looks to value, so I had to share it. 📍✨

Salt-flavored pork bones? We ordered the half-and-half set
At Dongnae Matjip Ppyeoguijip we ordered the half-and-half pork bone set (salt and spicy) and added fried squid as a side. When you think of ppyeoguui (grilled pork bones), you usually think of spicy seasoning only, right? But the menu had tons of set options and even a salt flavor, so I was so curious! We didn't hesitate: half-and-half salt and spicy set, plus fried squid on the side. 😋

Inside Dongnae Matjip in Garak-dong: the atmosphere
Dongnae Matjip Garak branch has a comfortable, clean neighborhood pub feel, great for a casual drink after work. The moment we walked in I loved that cozy yet tidy local-restaurant vibe! It's just right for a light drink and a late-night meal with my husband after work. The owner and staff greeted us so kindly that my mood was already perfect before we ate.

What comes with the half-and-half set?
The half-and-half set comes with pork bones, potato salad, morning buns and rice balls all on one platter. The side dishes were neat and tasty too! After a short wait our set arrived, and wow... my husband and I both gaped at it, haha. It's not just pork bones sitting there: potato salad, morning buns (soft little bread rolls) and rice balls all come together on one platter! The owner's generosity... amazing value! 👍🔥

The rice balls came out first! There was quite a lot of rice!! Seriously great value.

I mixed it up well and set it aside.

What does the salt-flavored pork bone taste like?
The salt-flavored pork bones at Dongnae Matjip had a subtle charcoal aroma and the clean, nutty taste of the meat itself. I tried the salt one first since I was most curious about it, and it really made my eyes pop! It was my first time eating pork bones salt-grilled, and the faint charcoal smell let the meat's own mild, savory flavor shine. Zero gamey smell, and the meat was so tender the lean meat came right off the bone!

It was nicely nutty and a little salty, and I really enjoyed it. I thought a half-and-half set might be small, but the two flavors came on separate plates and the portion was huge!

Morning bun + potato salad + pork bone burger hack
You can split the set's morning bun, add potato salad and pork bone meat, and eat it like a burger. And here's where I found a truly amazing combo... Cut the morning bun that comes with the set in half, put potato salad inside, and pile on the tender pork bone meat to make a burger!! It tastes insanely good, so everyone take notes, haha.

Spicy pork bones and rice balls
The spicy pork bones at Dongnae Matjip taste like classic sweet-and-spicy ppyeoguui. The spicy flavor was a proper sweet-and-spicy pork bone taste, so delicious! The sauce is addictive, so I shaped the rice into little balls and rubbed them through the sauce. A total rice thief. Alternate one bite of salt, one bite of spicy and you're stuck in an infinite loop, haha. 🍖✨

The mild, nutty potato salad and chewy pork bone meat came together with the bread at a quality that beats plenty of handmade burgers!

My husband took one bite, exclaimed, and then wolfed it down. In the end the morning buns and potato salad were so good that we ordered extra and finished every bit, haha. 🍞🥗

Is the fried squid side worth ordering?
The fried squid at Dongnae Matjip was crispy outside with plump squid inside, and worth recommending as a side. The fried squid we ordered on the side was a stroke of genius! Super crispy outside, with plump squid inside and a wonderful chew. It's tasty plain, and dipped in the pork bone sauce it cuts the greasiness, so I kept eating even though I was full! 🦑🔥
We said we were about to burst, yet still gnawed the very last bone, haha. The portions were far more generous than expected, so we were very satisfied. If you're looking for a meat place around Ogeum Station or Garak-dong with friendly prices and a hearty lineup, I strongly recommend this one.
A date or late-night meal near Ogeum Station and Garak-dong?
Thanks to its not-too-loud atmosphere and friendly service, Dongnae Matjip Garak branch worked well for a Garak-dong date or late-night meal. With prices these days, it's really rare to find a place where you can enjoy half-and-half pork bones plus bread, salad and rice balls as a full course for this price! I immediately understood why locals keep coming back. My husband and I promised to become regulars and come often, haha. 💖💖
The place isn't too noisy and is great for chatting, so the whole day's fatigue melted away! Good food plus kind service made me happy throughout the meal. If you're wondering about a date course or late-night food near Garak-dong, it's definitely here! If you want a new world of salt-flavored pork bones, or want to make an unusual burger from a morning bun and potato salad, save this one right now, haha.
This is a 200% satisfied, paid-with-my-own-money review, so you can visit with confidence and no regrets! ✨✨ The owner greeted us kindly all the way until we paid and left, which made it a perfect dinner! Next time I'm bringing friends to crush the other set menus too, haha.
