What is Café Ohkam in Konkuk Univ. like?
Café Ohkam is a dessert café near Konkuk Univ. Station that uses the 1st to 3rd floors plus an outdoor area. I was looking for a café with a good atmosphere around Konkuk Univ., and that's how I ended up here.

I love mango bingsu, so every summer I go hunting for good spots, and Ohkam turned out better than I expected. It's close to Konkuk Univ. Station, so it's easy to reach, and the first thing I noticed when I stepped in was how stylish and pleasant the space was. You can use the 2nd and 3rd floors and the outdoor area, not just the 1st floor, so it's bigger than it looks, and the seats are spaced generously. I could relax without feeling cramped.

The space is stylishly pretty, isn't it?
Just look at the color of that mango! 👍👍👍

Ohkam is pretty everywhere, and here's its owner, Koko! Yawning lazily.

Where is Café Ohkam, and what are the seating and terrace like?
Café Ohkam sits one alley in from the main road at Konkuk Univ., in an area packed with restaurants and cafés. Under the OKAM sign there's also a stylish shared-table spot.
What I liked most was the outdoor terrace. On a nice day, it would be really lovely to sit out there with a cup of coffee. Even though you're in the middle of the city, the atmosphere lets you relax for a moment, which left an impression on me. Once the weather cools down, that's a reason to come back!

How does the mango bingsu at Café Ohkam taste?
The heart of Café Ohkam's mango bingsu is the generous mango and the snowflake-fine milk ice. It was so good!
The mango bingsu was the item I was looking forward to most that day. It caught my eye right away, and the generously piled mango looked so appetizing. One bite and the sweet mango flavor blended with the soft milk ice, making me forget the summer heat. The ice grains were fine and soft, so I enjoyed it to the very end, and it wasn't too sweet, which made it easy to eat.
The texture of the milk ice in the mango bingsu
The biggest charm of this bingsu was the milk ice. It wasn't coarse like ordinary ice or quick to melt into water; the fine, soft, snowflake-like texture was impressive. It melted away the moment it went in my mouth, spreading a rich, nutty milk flavor, and together with the sweet mango it tasted even fuller. The freshness of the mango and the softness of the milk ice balanced each other, so I enjoyed it down to the last spoonful.
Are the financiers at Café Ohkam chewy?
The financier (buttery almond cake) at Café Ohkam isn't the super chewy, dense style, but it isn't very sweet and it was tasty. I usually like financiers that are completely chewy, and this wasn't quite that chewy and dense, but it wasn't too sweet and it was good.

The meaning of Ohkam: a life that seeks a state of calm.

The financier I ordered alongside was satisfying too. It was crisp outside and moist inside, with a rich, nutty butter flavor. It went well with coffee, and it also paired nicely with the mango bingsu. It felt like even the smallest dessert had been given care, which made me like it more.
