In short
Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store (파랑해녀집 신사직영점) is an aged sashimi and seafood restaurant between Sinsa Station and Garosu-gil in Gangnam, Seoul. On a hot summer visit, the signature mulhoe makguksu (cold raw fish buckwheat noodles, 38,000 won) came topped with 7 kinds of seafood to eat first, then mix with the cabbage, sea string seaweed, carrot and cucumber underneath into mulhoe, and two people ate their fill of seafood with some left over. It is close to Sinsa Station, so it is easy to reach, and it is a handy spot for a meal while walking around Garosu-gil.

Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa is the place to go in the autumn and winter yellowtail (bangeo) season, and any time you want fresh aged sashimi and seafood. Being near Sinsa Station and Garosu-gil, it is popular for dates, company dinners and get-togethers with friends.
With aged sashimi, seasonal seafood and plenty of side dishes to go with a drink, it was a satisfying place. Since I visited in the heat of summer, I ordered the cold mulhoe makguksu.

Is mulhoe makguksu at ₩38,000 enough for two?
Parang Haenyeojip is known for yellowtail and aged sashimi, but this time I ordered the mulhoe makguksu (buckwheat noodles in a cold, spicy-sweet raw fish soup). There were two of us, and we ate all the seafood we wanted and still had some left.
What we ordered: mulhoe makguksu

The mulhoe makguksu is the signature dish at ₩38,000.

Eat the 7 seafoods first
The great thing about ordering mulhoe makguksu is that if you love seafood, it's a two-for-one, no, a three-for-one!! And I love seafood! Eat through the 7 kinds of seafood until you've had your fill, then mix everything up and slurp it down as mulhoe~!!

As you eat your way down, you see the mulhoe ingredients underneath: cabbage, gosari (a crunchy seaweed), carrot, cucumber and so on. Mix it all together and ta-da, mulhoe.
The mulhoe makguksu came out so generous that it felt cool just looking at it.

What are the atmosphere and seating like?
The inside of Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store was clean and comfortable, and felt easy to visit even at lunchtime.

The interior is clean, with a sea-inspired design. There is an LED display board that I bet feels even more like the ocean at night.
Sinsa-dong's stylish vibe blends well with the comfort of a raw fish restaurant, so it works as a date spot and is also easy for group gatherings and company dinners. The staff were friendly too, so the whole meal was a pleasant experience.
This is what the hall looks like. Even though it was a Monday, they said the seats were full with evening reservations. Book through Naver before you go.
There is a kiosk at every table.

For the basic table setting, they gave one seaweed soup (miyeokguk) per person.

Thoughtfully, there were coat storage cabinets all over the place.

How does the mulhoe makguksu taste?
Parang Haenyeojip's mulhoe makguksu had a sweet-and-sour broth generously filled with fresh seafood and crunchy vegetables, and the makguksu noodles went well with it, so I enjoyed it to the last bite. Above all, the broth wasn't harsh: a balanced savory depth and tang that revived a summer appetite.
Eating it with the raw fish brought out a nutty richness, and the crisp cucumber and vegetables added a variety of textures. The noodles soaked up the broth, so every bite spread a cool flavor through the mouth, and the portion was generous enough to be a satisfying meal.
I'd recommend it to seafood lovers, and also to anyone around Gangnam or Sinsa-dong looking for something cool on a hot day.

In summer you especially crave a cold bowl of mulhoe, and if you're looking for that in Sinsa-dong, it's worth a visit. The staff were friendly and the food came out neat, so I finished the meal in a good mood. It was a satisfying meal that made me want to come back in winter for the yellowtail and aged sashimi.
