Is it a good place for a company dinner in Yangjae?

The interior is wonderfully retro. Besides the main hall there is a separate space inside, so the layout looked perfect for a company dinner! A great pick for a Yangjae group meal!

What we ordered at Gamdol: 1 serving each of pork belly, pork neck and kkodeulsal

The signature dish is gochujang yeontan bulgogi (spicy marinated pork grilled over briquettes), a must for briquette grilling! We ordered raw meat instead: one serving each of three cuts, pork belly, pork neck and kkodeulsal (chewy pork).

Before the meat arrives, sweet potato salad comes out to soothe your stomach..! It was sweet and smooth, and so tasty.

They give you whole aged kimchi and even green onion kimchi..! The owner really knows good food. There's also a lettuce and spring onion salad with insane umami, plus fresh wrap vegetables.

How do you grill the pork neck at Gamdol?

The meat comes in a traditional earthenware jar. It looks so clean and classy~ You grease the grill with a piece of pork fat first, then put the pork neck on! The kimchi goes alongside~

The pork neck turning golden brown. We were told it's a steak-style cut, so instead of cooking it 100% through, eating it about 80% done gives you the best flavor.

This kimchi is also amazing, I lost count of how many refills I got.

The first bite goes in the sesame oil dip! The pork neck isn't dry at all and is so good. There's a reason they recommend it, sob.

After pork neck, it's time for pork belly 🥓 Its reputation is well earned! If you're looking for pork belly near Yangjae Citizen's Forest, head to Gamdol!

Eat it with the fried rice. Meat just feels properly eaten when you have it with carbs.

Look how glossy it is! It has that perfectly rich, tasty pork belly flavor. They give you a foil plate, so the meat doesn't harden and stays moist to the end, which I loved.

I dipped the pork belly in the basil ssamjang I'd been looking forward to, and wow! This is really good. As a basil lover, it was totally my taste. I wondered if it would work, but basil goes so well with pork. Please try it once!

Last up: kkodeulsal

Finally, kkodeulsal! If a BBQ place has kkodeulsal or jjonduksal (chewy cuts), I always order it! It never fails to be delicious meat. The chewy texture was a work of art, and eating it with the spring onion salad was great!!

Are Gamdol's flat bibim noodles worth ordering when you're full?

The flat bibim noodles (spicy cold noodles) are the writer's number one side dish ever. The posters next to us during the meal were so eye-catching, and since they said meat + flat bibim noodles = heaven, I ordered them to experience it.

Honestly I was already pretty full from eating so much, but I wanted to experience heaven.. Wow, look at how crazy good this looks. Heaven confirmed!! The sweet and tangy sauce soaks right into these thin, wide noodles.

You wrap meat in the noodles like this and it's sooo good, sob. Truly my number one side dish ever... My friend and I both agreed, this really is heaven... please, please try it, sob.

Put meat and cabbage inside the noodles and eat it in one bite. Next time I'm getting one flat bibim noodle per person..!!
