Naegohyang Jeju Seorae Village: a grilled fish restaurant in Bangbae-dong
Naegohyang Jeju (내고향제주) Seorae Village branch is where I went when I was craving Korean food in Bangbae-dong and wanted a good grilled fish place. My 6-year-old son likes fish much more than meat, and this time we found a truly great grilled fish restaurant. We will absolutely be back. Full marks for the portions, the taste, and how pleasant the restaurant is.

We visited Naegohyang Jeju's Seorae Village branch, and not just the grilled fish but every Korean dish we had was satisfying. First, it's a grilled fish place, yet the moment you walk in there's no fishy smell at all. That honestly surprised me.

A Jeju restaurant with no fishy smell and baby chairs
Naegohyang Jeju Seorae Village branch specializes in Jeju local cooking, with a variety of fish dishes brought in from Jeju. My great first impression was that there was no funky smell at all, and the whole place felt really clean and pleasant.

Best of all, baby chairs are available, so it was easy to visit with a child.
What to order at Naegohyang Jeju
We were a family of three and ordered three dishes at Naegohyang Jeju: Jeju mixed grilled fish, Korean beef yukjeon (pan-fried beef slices in egg batter) and fried shrimp. And the conclusion up front: every dish was a hit! A certified great Korean restaurant.

Jeju mixed grilled fish, ₩49,000: white croaker, Atka mackerel and mackerel
This is Naegohyang Jeju's signature dish, the Jeju mixed grilled fish. Wow! It looks generous even in photos, but in person it's even bigger.

The mixed grilled fish comes with several kinds of fish; from the left they are white croaker, Atka mackerel and mackerel. Above all, the flesh is really plump.

At ₩49,000 it's great value. The fish are big and the flesh is thick, so it was plenty for a family of three.

Why the grilled fish stays warm to the end
The real reason I recommend Naegohyang Jeju is that you can eat everything warm to the end, which was my favorite part. There's an induction-like warmer under the mixed grilled fish, so the fish doesn't cool down while you eat.

Grilled fish usually goes cold quickly, right? Then the flesh gets dry and fishy, but at Naegohyang Jeju we could enjoy it warm for a long time, down to the last bite. So I kept picking the bones out of warm fish for my son, and he ate it really well.

Don't skip the fried shrimp
The dish that really beat my expectations at Naegohyang Jeju was this fried shrimp. The moment I saw it: "Wow... it's big."

The shrimp are quite large, and the batter was really white and clean. It felt like it was fried in fresh oil!

The fried shrimp also comes with perilla leaf and sweet potato fritters, and since I personally love fried perilla leaves, I was happy to see that combination.
Korean beef yukjeon: a side dish that's special from the size
The Korean beef yukjeon at Naegohyang Jeju is also huge!!

Usually when you order yukjeon you get only a small amount and a few bites finish it, but the yukjeon here stands out from the size alone.

Thick but tender Korean beef with a nutty egg coating... My son ate it well, and I think it would be a great snack with drinks for the adults too.

And the yukjeon also comes with a candle placed under the plate, thoughtfully, so it stays warm while you eat. Yukjeon that hasn't gone cold is just cheating. Diets, who cares.. T_T

We cleaned our plates, really scraped everything up. We were truly happy with this family meal, and what I felt this time is that it's a great restaurant to come to when you want a filling, well-balanced Korean meal.
Why I recommend Naegohyang Jeju as a Korean restaurant in Bangbae-dong
- Baby chairs available
- A pleasant dining room with no fishy smell
- Grilled fish that kids eat well
- The care that keeps food warm to the end
These things really raised my satisfaction.

If you like grilled fish, Naegohyang Jeju Seorae Village branch is a place I'd like you to visit at least once. The side dishes are all delicious one by one too, so feel free to go with high expectations.
