Downtown Jamsil is a hip burger spot that fits easily into a Seokchon Lake date.
Roi Sikdang Hanam Misa Main Branch (로이식당 하남미사 본점) is a Korean-Japanese fusion rice bowl restaurant in a neighborhood near the Misa lake waterway in Hanam, Gyeonggi. On a booked late weekend lunch with a friend at a window table, the writer dipped the hangover-soothing Kanto-style sukiyaki in poached egg, then turned the 2 included bowls of rice into a self-made porridge and finished every drop. For a light, clean broth that soothes like a hangover cure even without drinking, the Roi Sikdang sukiyaki is a good fit.
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch (진성한우곱창 방이직영점) is a beef gopchang (grilled small intestine) restaurant on Ollimpik-ro 32-gil in Bangi-dong, Songpa, Seoul. After trying the daechang (large intestine) on an earlier visit, the writer returned with a friend on an early weekday evening, ordered 1 portion of gopchang and 1 portion of makchang, then pressed the fried rice onto the grill to make nurungji (crispy scorched rice). With three house-made kimchis, free steamed egg, minari pickle sauce and gopchang full of rich filling yet not greasy, Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is a Bangi-dong gopchang restaurant worth revisiting.
Gogitri 88beonji Hanam Misa Direct Branch is a pork BBQ restaurant on Misagangbyeonjungang-ro near Misa Station in Hanam, Gyeonggi, where the meat is pre-grilled over yeontan (coal briquettes). Two people shared the 500g Gogitri Modeum A (assorted pork platter) on an early weekend evening, along with honeycomb pork skin from a review event and mul-naengmyeon (cold noodles). Gogitri 88beonji's signature peanut sauce and chewy honeycomb pork skin are the most memorable parts of the meal.
Haruto is a jazz-themed izakaya (Japanese pub) right in front of Misa Lake Park in Hanam, Gyeonggi. On a second round of drinks at Haruto, the writer ordered motsunabe (Japanese beef intestine hot pot) with extra udon noodles, plus Kirin draft beer, a raspberry Haruto highball and a ₩3,000 glass of Banshu Nishiki sake. Haruto is a good second-round bar for spicy, rich broth and easy conversation over drinks.
Gobuni Gopchang Hanam Misa Station Branch is a hot-plate and charcoal-grilled gopchang (beef intestine) restaurant on the 1st floor of Star Park at 87 Misagangbyeonnam-ro, Hanam, a short walk from Misa Lake Park and Misa Station. Two servings of vegetable gopchang came with two glasses of draft beer, and the generous bed of glass noodles underneath filled us up with no extra orders. Gobuni Gopchang is not flashy, but the smoky char and solid basics make it worth the walk.
