A review of Diaz at Galleria Gwanggyo, a great spot to grab cake to go near the Gwanggyo Convention Center and Gwanggyo Lake Park (known locally as Gwanghogong)♡ 💚👍😃

The day I brought home coffee and a mango cake from the Suwon Gwanggyo cake shop Café Diaz (카페디아즈) at Galleria Gwanggyo♡

Where is Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo?
Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo is in the B1 food hall of Galleria Gwanggyo. This day was an outing with mango cake and coffee in hand♡ I went to Galleria Gwanggyo to look around and ran into a cake I just couldn't walk past, hehe. Even when I go shopping, the place I browse hardest is the basement food hall... that's me 🙋🏻♀️

Today's stop was Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo on B1! I already love Suwon's Café Diaz cakes, so I was so happy to find it in the department store too. We ordered one mango cake, an iced Americano and an iced latte. Cake and coffee, and the outing is all set♡
What fruit cakes are in the Café Diaz Gwanggyo showcase?
In the Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo showcase, mango, blueberry and fig cakes sat side by side. Worthy of a Gwanggyo fruit cake hotspot, the showcase was colorful from the start. Next to the cake piled with yellow mango were a purple blueberry cake and a fig cake, and why are they all so pretty, haha. Even someone who only came for coffee would probably stop in front of this showcase for a moment.

There were lots of people around when we went. Browsing cakes in the bustling food hall got me excited too, lol. Since this was a takeout visit, we looked over the showcase, picked a cake and drinks, and had them packed.
What caught my eye was that the fruit wasn't just a little decoration on top; it covered the whole cake. The cake topped with several fruits had green grapes, blueberries, figs and even grapefruit, and the colors were really pretty. Even the fruit cross-sections visible on the sides were so cute that I kept taking photos, haha.

Lush fruit cakes, spoonable cakes, even tiramisu♡ What a lineup♡

How much are Café Diaz whole cakes and slices?
At Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo, the blueberry slice and the fig slice were each listed at ₩11,900. There are whole cakes and slices, so choosing is fun. I saw cakes that would look lovely for an anniversary, and it was also a good place to pick a dessert to go with coffee like we did. Fruit desserts in small cups were lined up neatly too, so going around the showcase once took surprisingly long.
The blueberry cake stood out because even the cream was pale purple, and the fig cake tempted me again with fruit showing between the cut layers. I came looking for a Gwanggyo fruit cake hotspot and only got indecision, lol.

Final pick: the Café Diaz mango cake
The cake I chose at Café Diaz this day was the mango cake! Seeing the golden mango piled high, I finally settled on mango. Walking out with one of my usual Café Diaz cakes felt reassuring and put me in a good mood. Even the cake box was pale pink, so carrying it was cute too♡
A sign in front of the shop said all Café Diaz cakes are made carefully every day with fresh domestic eggs. While browsing cakes, I read that too, haha.

What drinks does Café Diaz Gwanggyo serve?
Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo has a wider range of drinks than you'd expect, beyond coffee. We chose an iced Americano and an iced latte, but the menu photos also showed the Diaz signature latte, a Häagen-Dazs ice cream latte and an Einspänner (coffee with whipped cream). Seeing the photo of the latte with ice cream on top, I thought maybe I'll try that next time, hehe.
There were also signs for green tangerine tea and green tangerine ade. If you come with a friend who doesn't drink coffee, there's something to pick together. The menu also showed milk tea, matcha latte and chocolate latte, so everyone can choose to their own taste.
Cake and coffee to go, then a Gwanggyo Lake Park walk
Take your coffee from Café Diaz and step outside Galleria, and it leads straight to the Gwanggyo Convention Center and the Gwanggyo Lake Park paths. We came out with our coffee, and the sky was really pretty that day! Blue sky with fluffy white clouds, the kind of weather where going back inside feels like a waste♡

Browse the department store, pack up some sweet cake, then walk with a cup of coffee. That's secretly pretty happy, right, haha. It's easy to keep strolling toward Gwanggyo Lake Park, so it's perfect for a day when you'd hate to go home after just shopping. And on a day with a pretty sky, coffee outdoors is extra welcome.

With coffee in hand, we looked around the convention center where a pet fair was going on, walked the connected Gwanggyo Lake Park, and the sky was pretty too! There are lots of places to sit on the Gwanghogong side, so it's great for a Gwanggyo picnic with cake and coffee.

A day with a pretty sky: walking around Gwanghogong with an iced latte and an iced Americano, here we go~

Galleria Gwanggyo B1 Gate 9: the lake park is right outside
Right in front of Café Diaz Galleria, if you leave through the department store's B1 Gate 9, the Gwanggyo Convention Center, the Gwanghogong walking paths and the art museum are right there, FYI :) If you're hunting for a Gwanggyo fruit cake hotspot, Café Diaz even has the fun of browsing the showcase! I picked mango this time, but next time I want to bring home blueberry or fig too. The fruit cakes were all so pretty that choosing only one at a time felt like a shame, haha.

Next time my sugar runs low, I'll go try the rich, dark chocolate cake! It was crowded, but browsing pretty cakes was fun, and the autumn sky I met with coffee in hand made it a lovely outing. I really do love Suwon's Café Diaz cakes... I'll probably stop by again next time I pass B1, hehe.
