Sokcho mountain-view café: banana-rich pudding & latte at Cafe Neorae
In short
Cafe Neorae (카페너래) is a large mountain-view café on Wonamhaksapyeong-gil in Sokcho, Gangwon, where floor-to-ceiling windows look out on Seoraksan's Ulsanbawi Rock. As the last stop of an autumn Sokcho trip, the writer ordered Neorae Pudding, an iced Americano and a hot café latte; the Neorae Pudding, topped with gardenia-cinnamon powder, had a strong banana flavor and a distinctive character. Enjoying pudding and coffee by a sunny window facing Ulsanbawi Rock made the Cafe Neorae visit a big success.

A big café in Sokcho with a view of Ulsan Rock: Cafe Neorae
Cafe Neorae (카페너래) is a large café on Wonamhaksapyeong-gil in Sokcho where you can sip coffee looking out at Ulsan Rock in Seoraksan. The last stop of an autumn trip to Gangwon has to be a café, right?! ♡ I'd seen plenty of the Sokcho sea and eaten tons of good food, so this time it was the mountain view's turn! I went to Cafe Neorae, a café with a great view where you can relax over a coffee while looking at Ulsan Rock.

When you think of Sokcho, ocean-view cafés come to mind first, but this time I wanted my coffee with the majestic Seoraksan as a backdrop. Long story short: autumn sunshine, the Ulsan Rock scenery and a tasty pudding added up to a really happy café break ♡

What are the atmosphere and seating like at Cafe Neorae?
Cafe Neorae is a spacious place with red brick walls, huge picture windows and plenty of plants. The first thing I noticed walking in was how wide and open it feels! The green plants make the mood really nice. It's a bit different from the usual modern café, more warm and exotic, I'd say?

Each floor has a slightly different mood and a variety of tables, so I spent ages deciding where to sit, haha. There are long tables that suit groups, cozy window seats, even a space with rattan chairs! The sunlight pouring in beside the big windows was especially pretty. No wonder people call it a Sokcho café with a view.

⛰️ Can you see Ulsan Rock in Seoraksan from Cafe Neorae?
Yes. From the window seats at Cafe Neorae, you can see the Seoraksan ridgeline and Ulsan Rock through the glass. The Ulsan Rock view was the biggest reason I chose this place, and the ridgeline and the rock looked wonderful. Gazing at the mountains under a blue autumn sky, I really felt the leisurely pace of a Sokcho trip. A window seat is just perfect for sipping coffee while looking at the mountain.

Bakery breads and photo spots
Cafe Neorae is a bakery café, so there's a range of breads like Mont Blanc, salt bread and chestnut loaf, haha. Sitting in a rattan chair soaking up the sun is nice, and so is leaning on the window and staring blankly at the mountain! With big windows all around, each seat gives a slightly different view, which was another charm. The space up the stairs has a glass ceiling and arched windows too, so it's great for photos.

☕ Cafe Neorae menu and prices: what did I order?
I ordered three things at Cafe Neorae: Neorae Pudding, an iced Americano and a hot café latte. The signature menu also includes the Neorae Latte (₩7,500), a combo of smooth cream and nutty biji (soy pulp), the Sseoda Einspänner (₩7,500) topped with cinnamon and a Neorae cookie, and Neorae Tea (₩7,500).

Neorae Pudding, iced Americano and hot café latte, snapped with the Ulsan Rock view!

I was craving something cool and clean that day, so I went with the iced Americano! The hot café latte came in a black cup, and the heart latte art was so pretty ♡ Nutty coffee aroma plus warm sunshine made it a total healing time! And the day's dessert was, of course, the Neorae Pudding.

🍮 How does the Neorae Pudding at Cafe Neorae taste?
The Neorae Pudding is a special pudding topped with gardenia-cinnamon powder, and it had real personality. It looked pretty unique from the moment it arrived: white pudding in a clear glass, piled with what looked like nutty brown crumble, and a cute decoration on top!
I scooped a big spoonful and got soft pudding and crunchy topping together. Silky, creamy pudding plus nutty crumble, what a combo! That said, the banana flavor was strong. If you like bananas, go go go!

It was a sunny, large Sokcho café with a great Seoraksan view. Eating pudding at a Seoraksan café while looking at Ulsan Rock: big success ♡♡♡♡
Eating while looking out at Seoraksan made the tasty dessert feel even more special, you know? Haha. A bite of pudding, a sip of coffee, a glance at Ulsan Rock! Ahhh, this is the happiness of travel ♡♡♡
🌞 A relaxed café break on an autumn Sokcho trip
Personally, what I liked most about Cafe Neorae was the space. It's a big Sokcho mountain-view café, so I could even read my book easily! Next time I'm in Sokcho, I'd love to come back to see Ulsan Rock in another season. Autumn in Sokcho: I love the mountains, the sea and the cafés ♡♡♡
