Sokcho café with car-snack potato bread for a toddler: Bultan Gamja
In short
Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread Main Store is a potato bread bakery café on Haksapyeong-gil in Sokcho, Gangwon. On a holiday afternoon during a Sokcho trip with a 16-month-old, we tried the free tasting and took away one box of potato bread (4 pieces, 10,000 won); with the outer crust peeled off, the baby ate 2 pieces of the potato filling in one sitting. Parking sits right in front of the store, making Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread an easy stop for snacks to eat in the car.

While planning a trip to Sokcho with my kid, I figured famous food is great, but I wanted to check out this Bultan Gamja Bread bakery café that locals apparently recommend. With a 16-month-old, the first thing I check before picking any café or restaurant these days is whether there's something the baby can eat too.

This place turned out to be great for a light snack while traveling, and also satisfying as a gift. If you're looking for potato bread in Sokcho, it's worth a stop.

Even though I visited on a public holiday, there was plenty of parking, so I didn't have any trouble getting in.

The exterior is decorated in cute pop-art style, so even from a distance you can immediately tell, "that's the Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread place." On a sunny day, it's also a nice photo spot with the exterior as a backdrop.
Inside the Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread Main Store and the Muse Toy ceramic painting
The interior of Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread Main Store has a clean, wood-toned look that feels really comfortable.

There's also an in-store activity called Muse Toy, where you paint on ceramics — I thought it'd be nice to come back and try it together once my kid is a bit older. At ₩10,000, it seems like something you could enjoy without much of a burden.
Menu and prices: a box of 4 potato breads for 10,000 won
Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread's potato bread is ₩10,000 per box, with 10% off when you buy 3 boxes. Most bakery cafés in Sokcho tend to have pricier drinks when you look them up, but the drinks here are relatively affordable too.

Right at the entrance there's a tasting corner with the bread cut into slices — one bite in, and I thought, "this would be good to share with my kid too."

Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread (1 box) – ₩10,000. With 10% off for 3 boxes, it's a bit easier on the wallet if you're planning to buy several as gifts. Each box has 4 individually wrapped pieces, which also made it convenient to pull one out at a time.

Squid jjondeugi has such an unusual name that I got curious what it would taste like. They also sell oranda cookies made with jocheong (rice syrup) and yuja (citron).
What Bultan Gamja Bread tastes like, and how the 16-month-old reacted
The main ingredients of Bultan Gamja Bread are apparently potato and squid ink. The outside is chewy, while the inside is packed with actual potato, giving it a fluffy texture — it seems popular with people looking for healthier food options.

Since we had a long drive ahead with the baby, I packed some to go and gave it to her as a car snack — it must have suited her taste, because she wasn't bored in the car at all and ate happily.

Since she's only 16 months old, I couldn't give her the crust, just the potato filling inside — and she still ate 2 pieces in one sitting. It really was a grateful little bread that helped us get through the drive smoothly.
How to reheat the potato bread, plus delivery orders by phone or text
Room-temperature and frozen Bultan Gamja Bread need different reheating methods. Here's what's posted:

- Room-temperature potato bread · Microwave 20 seconds / air fryer 180°C for 5 minutes
- Frozen potato bread · Microwave 30 seconds, flip, another 30 seconds / air fryer 180°C for 10–15 minutes
- If frozen bread has thawed naturally, treat it the same as room-temperature bread
I microwaved the non-frozen bread for about 20 seconds, and the outside came out chewy while the inside stayed soft — my family and I all enjoyed it.
If visiting in person isn't possible, delivery orders are available too. You can order easily by phone or text, so you can keep enjoying the potato bread at home even after your Sokcho trip is over.
Is Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread Main Store worth a stop with a baby?
If you're planning a trip to Sokcho, I'd recommend Bultan Gamja Bread — the taste is great, and it's filling too.

It'd also make a good gift, so if you're looking for a bakery café with something a little different, I'd recommend giving it a visit :)
