Guri market pub for a no-alcohol date: ragu pasta and pizza at Muje
In short
Muje (무제) is a pub serving Korean, Chinese and Western food on the 2nd floor inside Guri Traditional Market in Guri, Gyeonggi. After walking around the market, a couple skipped alcohol and ordered only the white ragu pasta (16,000 won) and the arugula & prosciutto pizza. Muje doesn't require a drink order, and its portions and flavor matched or beat Western restaurants at similar prices. Muje is a good fit for a Guri date when you just want a meal somewhere with a nice atmosphere.

Why we only ate a meal at Muje after a Guri Traditional Market date
Muje (무제) is a bar-restaurant on the 2nd floor right in the middle of Guri Traditional Market, and my boyfriend and I had just pasta and pizza, no alcohol, and were really happy with it. I honestly enjoyed it more than most Western restaurants in the same price range.
A few days ago we went on our first date in Guri. We took Line 8 from Jamsil and it was way closer than I expected. Still, it counts as a little trip out of the city, so it felt like traveling, which was nice. We wandered around Guri Traditional Market and then visited a bar called Muje. Adding drinks would have been perfect, and it was a shame we could only eat because of our next plans.
Muje opening hours and how to find it
Muje is open Monday to Saturday, 17:00-01:00, with last order at 23:30. It is closed on Sundays, so please keep that in mind!

The entrance is hidden, so keep your eyes wide open 👀 when you look for it! haha I was surprised to find such a cool place in the middle of a traditional market. There's a jokbal (braised pig's feet) restaurant right next to it. 😆

What are Muje's interior and restroom like?
At first I thought I had walked into a cozy café by mistake, it's that atmospheric inside. The restroom is inside the shop too, and it was clean.

It feels like the owner filled in every tiny detail with their own taste. And I'm someone who cares a lot about restrooms. This one smelled of nag champa incense, was clean, and had great interior design too.

Group and room seating make it good for gatherings
Muje has group seating and room-style seating too, so besides dates I think it would be great for gatherings like a wedding invitation meetup.

Even the water bottle is this pretty, so I admired the owner's taste once more. haha

Muje's menu has Korean, Chinese and Western dishes
Muje's menu has Korean, Chinese and Western dishes all together, like mala hot pot, pasta and LA galbi nurungji (scorched rice), which was fun. There are also a few unusual items like Shandong-style garlic chive noodles, which felt special. As you can see on the menu, the drinks are really varied too, from highballs to wine and kaoliang (Chinese sorghum liquor)!

Do you have to order alcohol at Muje?
No, ordering alcohol is not required at Muje. Some places require one drink per person or make you buy a bottle, but sometimes you just want to have a meal in a place with a good atmosphere, like us. I highly recommend it for people like that!
Recommended at Muje: white ragu pasta and arugula & prosciutto pizza
We ordered two dishes at Muje, the white ragu pasta and the arugula & prosciutto pizza, and we loved both. The owner runs the floor and cooks alone (as of 5 p.m. on a Friday), so the food didn't come out fast, but you could taste the care.

White ragu pasta, ₩16,000, with a generous portion
Honestly, since it's a bar, I assumed the portion wouldn't be big. And ₩16,000 wasn't a burden either. But the portion was actually bigger than at a specialty Western restaurant. That was surprise number one, and then the noodle doneness and the balance of cheese and ragu were so good too. I scraped up every last bit of sauce.

I ate the arugula & prosciutto thin-crust pizza down to the crust
Muje's arugula & prosciutto pizza was a thin-crust pizza loaded with arugula and prosciutto. I like pizza, but I get sick of it, so even with thin crust I never eat more than two slices, okay? But here I ate 4 slices. hahaha And I normally don't eat the crust without cheese sauce, but this time I ate it all. It was crispy and chewy and so delicious.

You can see photos of the dishes on Muje's Instagram!
Verdict: a satisfying Guri Traditional Market date course
- Great atmosphere and a kind owner
- Better-than-expected taste at a reasonable price
- Varied and new dishes
- A clean restroom inside the shop
Browsing the traditional market, then a restaurant with a good atmosphere and a tasty meal, we were really happy with this date. If you have a gathering or a date near Guri Station, give it a visit. 💗
