I wanted to share my first-ever lash perm review! Up until now I'd only ever gotten lash extensions. They looked great when I wore makeup, so I was happy with them for a long time.

But lately I barely wear makeup, so the extensions started to feel a bit heavy on my face. And depending on how well you take care of them, extensions can fall out one by one, which always bugged me because it's so noticeable.

Then right before the holidays, I heard a friend mention she was going for a lash perm, and I thought I should try it too. So I looked into it and found Mippeudang in Guri. Here's my first lash perm review. 💫

Why swap lash extensions for a lash lift?

After years of getting only lash extensions, I finally tried a lash perm for the first time at Mippeudang Lash Guri. Extensions look pretty, but they had a few downsides for me.

First, when lashes fall out one by one, the gaps are obvious. No matter how well you maintain them, it happens eventually. And since I've started swimming lately, I could tell they'd fall out even faster.

Second, extensions balance well with makeup, but since I barely wear makeup these days, having extensions on top made my face feel slightly mismatched.

After thinking it over, I found out that a perm works with your natural lashes and just adds curl, so it's lower maintenance and looks natural even without makeup. That sounded good, so I decided to give it a try this time.

What impressed me most on my first visit to Mippeudang Lash Guri was the consultation process. The owner checked my face from the front and side angles beforehand and thought through what look would suit me.

She also asked in detail what vibe I was going for and what I wanted. Since I said I wanted something natural, she could've just said "shall I do a perm for you?" — but instead she carefully looked at my eye shape and thought about which curl would actually suit me. I really liked that.

At first, since I don't wear much makeup, I just asked for something natural. But the owner suggested that since my lashes drooped slightly downward, a stronger lifting curl might actually work better for me.

So I went with her recommendation, and I really loved it. My lashes are on the shorter side, so if I'd gone with a purely natural curl, it probably wouldn't have shown up much at all. Seeing how thoughtfully she recommended it made me realize she really knows her craft.

How long the lash lift takes and what the salon is like

Apparently the time it takes for a lash perm depends on your lash texture. It usually takes 35 to 50 minutes. Mine took close to 50 minutes.

Since you have to keep your eyes closed the whole time, I think I dozed off a little haha.

The beds and overall salon atmosphere were really nice, and there were thoughtful little touches for customers everywhere. Like a spot next to the bed to prop your phone, a footrest for during the treatment, and a charger set up so you could charge your phone comfortably. All of it felt really considerate.

There are 3 beds, so multiple treatments can happen at the same time. I got a perm this time, but they also do lash extensions and waxing.

Results on short, droopy lashes

I'm honestly so happy with it! My lashes are naturally short and droopy, but thanks to the strong lifting curl, my eyes look way more defined now.

Even without mascara, my eyes look alive, so my bare face feels a little prettier too, if that makes sense? I think it'd be great for anyone going through a bit of a makeup slump. Since it just adds curl to your own lashes, there's no artificial feel — just a natural kind of pretty. Very satisfied.

How long a Korean lash lift lasts

According to Mippeudang, a lash perm lasts about 6 to 7 weeks per treatment. The owner told me that the treatment itself matters, but aftercare matters just as much. It's kind of like how a hair perm leaves your hair dry and prone to frizz, so you apply essence afterward.

Lash perms work on a similar principle, so applying a lash serum afterward helps the curl stay pretty for much longer. If you neglect it, the curl can fade faster or come out looking less nice. I started using a lash serum right after my treatment.

If there's a downside to a lash perm, it might be this — you do need to keep up with the serum consistently. My friend doesn't really bother with hers, but I want to keep mine looking nice, so I'm going to stick with it.
