Couple's Korean BBQ in Hapjeong: radish salad refill, Jeongyukdo
In short
Jeongyukdo is a Korean BBQ restaurant on Yanghwa-ro 6-gil near Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul, with an outdoor patio terrace. On an early date, a married couple skipped the heat and sat indoors at Jeongyukdo, ordering the Handon pork set (fresh galbi, flower-cut pork neck, pork belly) with Hanmac draft beer and kimchi fried rice; of the three cuts, the thick pork belly was the best. Jeongyukdo is a Hapjeong Station Korean BBQ spot that satisfies on atmosphere, hygienic individual side dishes and sides alike.

What is the patio atmosphere like at Jeongyukdo near Hapjeong Station?
Jeongyukdo is a Korean BBQ place near Hapjeong Station where you can eat pork belly on an outdoor terrace (yajang, an outdoor patio dining setup). I went to Hapjeong on a date with my husband, and Jeongyukdo won us over, from the meat to the atmosphere.

The outside of Jeongyukdo is so romantic! We came a little early, but I bet the mood is amazing in the evening once the lights come on.

There were lots of outdoor tables, and by the time we finished eating, the terrace was completely full. If you want pork belly on a Hapjeong patio, I think you'd struggle to find a seat if you come too late. We came while the sun was still up and it was hot, so we sat indoors.

Are the indoor seats and restrooms at Jeongyukdo comfortable?
Inside Jeongyukdo there are plenty of tables, but they're spread out rather than crowded into one spot, so it felt comfortable. The restrooms are inside the restaurant, with separate men's and women's rooms. There aren't many Hapjeong restaurants with pleasant restrooms, so I was happy with this.

Jeongyukdo's Hanbon pork set and stew choice
The menu at Jeongyukdo ranges from set menus to à la carte dishes. We went back and forth between à la carte and a set, and ended up with the Hanbon (Korean domestic pork) set. The set comes with a choice of earthenware meljeot (salted fish) pot or hanwoo (Korean beef) doenjang stew (soybean paste stew), and we picked the hanwoo doenjang stew. Also note that if you leave a receipt review, Jeongyukdo gives you hanwoo doenjang sulbap (rice in soybean paste broth) or hanwoo dried-radish-greens soup.

Individual side dishes and sauces
The side dishes that go with the meat were set out individually, which felt hygienic to me.

The shredded scallion salad and pickled onions each had their own tongs for sharing, which also felt hygienic.

Besides the sauce provided as standard, there were three other kinds of sauce ready, including wasabi.

Hanmac draft beer, 300cc for ₩3,200
Of everything we ordered at Jeongyukdo, the Hanmac draft beer came out first! My husband and I love Hanmac draft beer, so when I saw it on the menu, I ordered it right away. It was ₩3,200 for 300cc.
And the hanwoo doenjang stew that comes with the Hanbon set! It was nicely salty and went well with the meat.

Is the Hanbon pork set enough for two?
The Jeongyukdo Hanbon set has 250g of raw galbi, 150g of flower pork neck and 100g of pork belly. It's meant for 2–3 people, but for just the two of us it was a filling amount.

I thought about grilling one cut at a time, but we ended up putting everything on at once. The meat was nice and thick, exactly my taste.

My top pick of the three cuts: pork belly
Just grill it golden brown and you're done! Everything was tasty, but personally I liked Jeongyukdo's pork belly best. If you come to this Hapjeong BBQ place, definitely order the pork belly.

It was thick and cooked to a golden brown, and it melted in my mouth.

Radish salad, salted fish and scallion salad: one even got a refill
The radish salad (musaengchae), the salted fish (jeotgal) and the scallion salad were all good. My pick was the radish salad, while my husband said the salted fish was the best! The radish salad was so good that I even asked for a refill.

Side dish at Jeongyukdo: kimchi fried rice for ₩8,000
A side dish is a must for us carb-loving couple! The main dish matters, but honestly we take sides very seriously too. Jeongyukdo's sides included doenjang sulbap, haejang ramyeon (hangover ramen) and naengmyeon (cold noodles), and we ordered the kimchi fried rice (₩8,000). It isn't stir-fried on the grill after the meat; it comes out already fried, separately.

The kimchi fried rice came with plenty of egg, and soft egg with kimchi fried rice is the best combo, right? A piece of meat on top of the fried rice was delicious too.
