Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch: the Yangju galbi restaurant we return to for meat

I went back to Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch again, which I visit whenever I'm craving meat.

I liked it so much on my first visit that this is already my umpteenth time here. Every time I go the food is generous and satisfying, so this time my husband and I went again for lunch. I made a Naver reservation ahead of time, as usual.

A roomy Yangju restaurant with easy parking

Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch is a large building with its own parking, so it's easy to visit by car. The restaurant is spacious, making it a good option not just for family meals in Yangju but also for group gatherings and company dinners. We usually come for lunch, and there always seem to be quite a few other guests whenever we visit.

Many visits to Manpo Galbi, but our first time upstairs

After confirming our reservation we headed over, and this time, since the 1st floor seemed busy with guests, they showed us up to the 2nd floor.

I'd been to Manpo Galbi many times, but this was my first time eating on the 2nd floor. Once upstairs, the space turned out to be bigger than I expected, with generous spacing between tables, making it comfortable to eat.

Every table also had good ventilation, and the overall atmosphere was clean.

What's at the second-floor self-serve corner

The 2nd floor also has a self-serve corner where you can grab side dishes as needed, so it was easy to top up anything that ran low.

The lettuce wraps are at the self-corner, so you just help yourself.

At Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch, yukhoe (raw beef) and yukjeon (beef pancake) come as basic side dishes.

Lunch special hand-made galbi set for 2 plus one extra marinated galbi

This time we ordered two lunch special hand-cut galbi sets. Figuring it might not be enough, we also added one extra serving of hand-cut seasoned galbi from the start.

The hand-cut galbi set comes with 250g of pork galbi plus naengmyeon and doenjang sulbap, which makes for a hearty lunch on its own. Bottom line: that's three servings of meat total.

The basic side dishes are set out one by one, and once the seasoned galbi arrives, it's time to start grilling.

Watching the galbi turn golden brown over the charcoal — meat really does taste best from the moment it starts grilling.

The galbi wasn't tough at all, nice and tender so it was easy to eat plenty, and the seasoning wasn't overly sweet, which suited our taste well.

When eating meat we don't drink alcohol, so we need at least a Coke to help us eat more meat, haha.

The yukjeon tastes even better with a quick pass over the charcoal. The sweet and salty seasoning soaks nicely into the meat, and grilling it over charcoal adds that smoky flavor that kept us reaching for more.

In the end we properly finished off two hand-cut galbi sets plus one extra serving of hand-cut seasoned galbi. This is a Yangju galbi restaurant I've visited many times now, and there's clearly a reason I'm satisfied every time.

It's a Yangju meat restaurant that's great to visit with meat-loving family, and one that comes to mind often for us.

Finishing filling up with doenjang sulbap

The lunch special hand-cut galbi set also includes doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice). Rather than just stopping at the meat, adding the piping hot doenjang sulbap made the meal much heartier.

The broth was savory with a spicy kick, which paired well after eating the seasoned galbi.

Complimentary naengmyeon: cold broth and spicy bibim

After finishing the meat, we ordered the complimentary naengmyeon (cold noodles). We nicely split it, one mul naengmyeon and one bibim naengmyeon each.

The cool mul naengmyeon refreshed our palate after the meat, while the spicy-sweet bibim naengmyeon also went well alongside the galbi. Visiting as a couple, it's fun to order one of each and share.

Leftover meat tastes great eaten together with the naengmyeon too.

Iced coffee and ppeongseukeurim to end the meal

We were stuffed, but dessert always finds room, right?

After finishing the meal, we had a cup of iced coffee and also grabbed the ppeongtwigi (puffed rice snack), which I secretly love at Manpo Galbi. Especially the ppeong-seukeurim — puffed rice with ice cream tucked inside — is impossible to pass up.

My husband and I each made one and ate it happily like kids. From meat to naengmyeon, iced coffee, and ppeong-seukeurim, we really enjoyed the full course.

Our verdict on Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch

Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch has been satisfying every time, which is how I ended up visiting so many times already. This time I ate on the 2nd floor for the first time, and the space was spacious with a self-serve corner that made things convenient. The lunch special hand-cut galbi set lets you enjoy galbi along with doenjang sulbap and naengmyeon, making it a solid choice for lunch in Yangju.
