Munhwa Bakery (문화제빵) is a bakery in Ikseon-dong, Jongno 3-ga, and its onion bagel and coffee bread are said to be especially popular. It's loved by lots of people for its wide range of breads and fresh ingredients.

Since it's in Ikseon-dong, Jongno, it's also a nice stop before a date! And maybe because it's Jongno, office workers and bread lovers seemed to be coming in a lot at lunchtime too!

Munhwa Bakery is open daily from 11:00 to 19:00, and parking is not available. It's 199 m from Jongno 3-ga Station, so it's a bakery very close to the station.

As you'd expect from an Insadong/Ikseon-dong bakery, we were greeted by a building with a strong hanok (traditional Korean house) feel.

How does Munhwa Bakery's cream-filled onion bagel taste?

The onion bagel at Munhwa Bakery is crispy outside and chewy inside. The sweetness of the onion soaks in subtly, so it's really good, and the crunch of the onion pieces was so good too.

Calories aside, the onion bagel is my all-time favorite~~ And of course it has cream... I'll get fat, right...?? T_T But it's so delicious T_T

Just look at that amount of cream!!! They put in cream without holding back.

Munhwa Bakery coffee bread: price and taste

The coffee bread at Munhwa Bakery is ₩5,500. Inside the fluffy, castella-like bread was a coffee-flavored cream.

The bread was so soft!! The coffee bread's soft, sweet flavor is excellent. Eating it makes the whole day feel happier. It's full of coffee aroma, so it's really nice with a coffee.

Even though Munhwa Bakery is takeout only, there were lots of people, and I think it's because the bread is fresh, high quality and tasty.

Did we try Munhwa Bakery's garlic bread?

They say the garlic bread at Munhwa Bakery is very famous too!!!! But we already know that flavor, so we passed!

The milk cream bread at Munhwa Bakery is ₩3,500 and the black sesame bread is ₩3,800. Both are breads for cream addicts.

The milk cream bread in particular is so, so soft. It really melts in your mouth. I totally recommend it if you like cream and soft bread.
