Songpa Korean restaurant for thick potato pancake: Wareureu Mansion

In short

Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch is a Korean restaurant in Songpa, Seoul, where I stopped after the first round of drinks in Bangi-dong’s food alley. We had a beef shank and tendon hot pot, a thick bulgogi cheese potato pancake, and soy sauce egg butter rice; the pancake was my favorite, and the quiet setting made conversation easy.

We were full after the first round, but did not want to call it a night, so we went to Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch (와르르맨숀 방이점). It is in Bangi-dong’s food alley, so the walk was short, and we ate snacks while talking in the quiet atmosphere.

Getting there and parking after the first round

After having drinks for the first round in the food alley, we arrived after only a short walk. We did not need to travel far, which made it convenient for a second-round spot.

I also liked that there was plenty of parking space when I visited. The parking fee was listed as free for the first 60 minutes, then ₩3,000 per additional 60 minutes, up to ₩5,000.

The address is 서울 송파구 오금로11길 11-8 지상2층 201호. The original post lists the hours as 2:00 PM to 4:00 AM the following day, every day; it is open year-round, and reservations are available.

A setting that was easy to talk in

When I visited, it was quiet and cozy. Our conversation did not feel drowned out by the tables next to us, and the low lighting was easy on the eyes.

Snack selection and prices

There were around 100 menu items, with a wide range including jeon (Korean savory pancakes), hot pots, fried rice, and fried dishes. There were so many options that my group spent a while deciding. I felt that the snacks we had that day were reasonably priced for the portions.

First, I had a glass of non-alcoholic beer.

What did the arong-satae seuji jeongol taste like?

The arong-satae seuji jeongol (beef shank and tendon hot pot) was ₩28,900. The vegetables arrived piled high, so I took photos before eating. The broth was spicy, with a subtle mala aroma. Once it had boiled, I looked inside and found plenty of tendon as well.

Which snack was my favorite?

My favorite menu item that day was the bulgogi cheese gamjajeon (bulgogi cheese potato pancake). I expected a thinly fried potato pancake, but it arrived thick.

It was ₩18,900, and I was satisfied considering its thickness and portion. The three sauces served with it each tasted different, so alternating among them kept it from becoming tiresome.

On my first bite, it felt closer to pizza than gamjajeon. It suited my taste because I like fusion snacks.

How was the soy sauce egg butter rice to finish?

We finished with soy sauce egg butter rice. The butter aroma mixed with the soy sauce, creating a nutty smell, and the rice was tasty even on its own.

Even though I arrived full, I enjoyed the meal and cleared my plate.

We ate a lot that day, so after dropping my belongings at home, I went for a walk along Tancheon Stream.
