Cheongdam hair salon layered-cut refresh on a Seoul trip: Beorn Hair

While visiting Seoul, I wanted to get my hair cut by someone who's really good at cuts 💇‍♀️ After searching around, I went to Beorn Hair Cheongdam (비오른헤어 청담점), a real hotspot for layered cuts in Cheongdam!

Beorn Hair Cheongdam is open Monday and Wednesday through Sunday, 09:30–20:00, and closed every Tuesday. You can use the paid parking lot in the salon's building (₩4,000 fee, valet available) 🚗

Getting to Beorn Hair Cheongdam from Gangnam-gu Office Station, and the interior

Beorn Hair Cheongdam is on the 2nd floor of the Cheongyul Building! It's about a 2–3 minute walk from Exit 3-1 of Gangnam-gu Office Station, so it's easy to reach by public transport 🚇

There are so many hair salons in Gangnam, and especially in Cheongdam-dong, but Beorn Hair Cheongdam is one with a super spacious interior and really a lot of skilled designers.

How much is a cut at Beorn Hair Cheongdam?

Going by the prices posted near the salon entrance, here's what they look like!

• ✂️ Bangs cut: about ₩15,000
• ✂️ First-visit basic cut: about ₩33,000
• ✂️ First-visit junior cut: about ₩21,000
• ✂️ First-visit scaling cut: about ₩59,400

That day I came for a design cut (₩55,000) + a bangs cut (₩15,000)! My bangs had already been cut, but I wanted them tidied up a bit more, hehe.

A waiting area that's comfortable for companions

At Beorn Hair Cheongdam they also served drinks and snacks while waiting, so it was easy to relax. There were lots of spots to plug in a charger too, which I loved. My boyfriend said he had a good rest while I was getting my cut, haha!

A cut after one year: my hair before the layered cut

Before photo! This is my hair before the layered cut... super patchy, right? 😭 It's been about 8 months since I got a straightening perm on my existing layered cut, and about 5 months since my last dye, so it was an absolute disaster, basically.

It had been about a year since my last cut, so I came to trim off the long length and damaged hair that had built up. I booked the head manager (수석실장) through Naver.

First they shampooed my hair to check its condition. The shampoo is the most healing part of going to a salon for me... that's me, me 🧡💛

Keeping the layers and cutting only damaged ends: the consultation

The designer at Beorn Hair Cheongdam asked if I had a style in mind, and I said I just wanted to cut off the damaged parts of my current layered cut and keep the layers exactly the same. They showed me styling photos too, and I liked them, so we went with that!

Snip snip, my hair getting cut off. My hair had gotten thicker and longer over that time, so it even felt heavy! They say hair grows about 1 cm a month, so in a year it must have grown 12 cm more...

How did the layered cut turn out?

After photo! Ta-da! I really, really like how it turned out. Beorn Hair Cheongdam blow-dried it so prettily too, and it became exactly the layered cut I wanted 😭

The line of my hair was much tidier and the layers blended naturally, and with the ends neatly cleaned up, the whole style looked so much fresher ✨

The nice thing about a layered cut is that the layers come alive when you wear your hair down, and it gives a natural vibe even with light styling. You can add some mood to your existing hairstyle without changing too much, so I was personally super satisfied. When your hair feels heavy or you're a little tired of your current style, a layered cut seems like a great way to switch things up, haha.

They trimmed my bangs neat and cute, exactly how I wanted, so I left really happy! I feel like I finally found a great cut spot after a long time.
