Sinnonhyeon bakery café, financiers & pistachio latte: Upper and Under

I was looking for a café with a nice atmosphere in Gangnam and ended up at Upper and Under (UPPER AND UNDER) 🤍 Near Sinnonhyeon Station, it has not just coffee but a wide range of bakery items and desserts, so I'm leaving a recommendation review! 🫶🏻

Upper and Under opening hours and parking

Upper and Under, the Sinnonhyeon Station café, is open every day from 11:00 to 22:00. There's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to use a nearby paid lot before you visit! 🚗

What's the inside of Upper and Under like?

The café runs from the first basement floor up to the above-ground floors, so it's a nice place to relax over coffee and dessert in Gangnam! When you look for cafés around Gangnam or Sinnonhyeon Station there are lots of options, places with great coffee, places with lots of desserts and so on, but what I liked about Upper and Under is that you can enjoy drinks and a wide range of bakery items together, haha

The menu has plenty of choices: coffee, non-coffee drinks, cold brew, sparkling ades, tea and more >< Everything looked so good that, fair warning, choosing was seriously hard... !

Upper and Under in Sinnonhyeon especially has lots of desserts, so choosing is half the fun, and it'd be great for ordering several and sharing! There are really cakes packed everywhere you look

Financiers, pies and canelés: the sweet potato financier sells out early

The baked goods, financiers, pies, canelés and more, were also really varied. I especially love those long, slim financier-style ones, so I scooped up mostly financiers. I was dying to try the trendy sweet potato (mattang, candied sweet potato) financier too, but I guess it's hot in Seoul as well, because it sold out early :( Next time I'll definitely come back for the sweet potato financier!

There was a simple self-service bar inside. I ordered the desserts I wanted along with drinks and got a buzzer!

This time at Upper and Under I ordered an iced tea, a pistachio cream latte, a Nunettine financier, a choco banana pie and a salty choco financier! Two drinks and three desserts, so I got to try a bit of everything.

How does the pistachio cream latte taste?

My pick from the drinks was the pistachio cream latte! It combines pistachio's nutty flavor with soft cream, so it was perfect for me, since I love nutty, sweet drinks hehe. It's a good choice when you want a flavor different from a regular latte.

Iced tea, a good match for desserts

Next is the iced tea, nice and cold 🧊 If you like sweet, refreshing drinks, it goes well with desserts. Drunk with sweet bakery items, it freshens up your mouth. It's still really hot in the daytime these days, and this was a drink I could gulp down happily!

Nunettine and salty choco financiers and the choco banana pie

Last up, dessert time!!! The salty choco financier let me taste Nunettine's signature sweet, crispy flavor along with that sweet-and-salty combo! The choco banana pie was also so delicious! Chocolate and banana is a familiar combo that anyone who likes sweet desserts will probably love... 🍌🍫 Sweet yet soft, it was absolutely perfect.
