🐟 Even though I live in Busan, I don't eat mackerel sashimi that often! This time I visited Haneobuui Godeungeosarang Haeundae (한어부의고등어사랑 해운대점), where you can try mackerel and horse mackerel sashimi in Haeundae. 🐟

If you love sashimi, this is a place worth keeping an eye on. I was impressed by the full table, from mackerel and horse mackerel sashimi to all kinds of seafood dishes.
Where is Haneobuui Godeungeosarang Haeundae?
Haneobuui Godeungeosarang Haeundae is on the second floor of a building at 5 Haeun-daero 594beon-gil, Haeundae-gu, Busan. I found it while looking for a good place to eat near Haeundae Station!

A huge Godeungeosarang (mackerel love) sign is on the outside of the building, so it's easy to spot. There's a CU convenience store on the first floor and the restaurant is on the second. In front of the entrance there was also a sign introducing the mackerel and horse mackerel sashimi menu.
What are the atmosphere and seating like?
The inside of Haneobuui Godeungeosarang Haeundae is bright and clean, with sofa-style seats divided by partitions. Stepping in, the first thing I noticed was how bright and tidy it was, more than I expected.

The wood-toned interior with soft lighting felt warm. The seats are sofas with backrests, and partitions are set up between the tables. Each table is separated from its neighbors to some degree, so it's a comfortable setup for a meal.

The walls also display black-and-white photos related to Busan's fishing industry. You can feel that it's a mackerel specialist even in the interior. 😊
What comes in the basic table setting?
The basic setting at Haneobuui Godeungeosarang Haeundae includes salad, jeon (savory pancake) and porridge, plus white kimchi, pickled onion, garlic, chili pepper, seaweed and sauce. Once we sat down, the dishes were prepared one after another.

The table was set up so you can combine the mackerel sashimi in all sorts of ways. The first thing that caught my eye was the golden-brown jeon.

It came on a black plate, and its appetizing color came through nicely in the photo. The salad had greens and cherry tomatoes, adding some freshness to the table.

There was also warm porridge, which looked like a nice light start before getting into the sashimi.
Mussel soup and scallops too!
Besides the mackerel sashimi, seafood dishes like mussel soup and scallops came out too.

The mussel soup came in a big bowl with mussels and chili peppers, and steam was rising from the hot broth. You ladle it into your own bowl to eat.

The scallops were prepared separately too. The purple and orange tinted shells caught my eye. I even took photos of taking the meat out of the shell and dipping it in sauce.

With so many seafood dishes laid out before the sashimi even arrived, the table looked even more abundant.
How are the mackerel and horse mackerel sashimi served?
The mackerel and horse mackerel sashimi, the main dish at Haneobuui Godeungeosarang Haeundae, come together on one large plate so you can alternate between the two. This was the main dish I'd been looking forward to most. 💕
The sashimi was nicely arranged on a big plate, and the look of it was gorgeous from the first moment. The silvery skin and reddish flesh typical of mackerel sashimi stood out.

The horse mackerel sashimi was on the plate too, so we could alternate between the two kinds. When I shot the thickly sliced sashimi up close, the texture and shine showed even better.

In the middle of the plate was a glass bowl of ice, decorated with greens and lemon. It looked so neat that I ended up taking lots of photos.
What's the best way to eat the mackerel sashimi?
The table at Haneobuui Godeungeosarang Haeundae has a guide to four tasty ways to eat the mackerel sashimi: sushi, seaweed with seasoned vegetables, white kimchi, and sushi with soy sauce and wasabi.

Even people not used to mackerel sashimi can enjoy it in many combinations by following the guide.
First, mackerel sushi
Just put a slice of mackerel sashimi on the sushi rice that comes with it, and you have mackerel sushi!

We made it ourselves. With the mackerel sashimi on white rice, it looked quite convincing, like something from a sushi restaurant. 🍣
Second, seaweed with seasoned vegetables

You put mackerel sashimi and seasoned vegetables on a piece of seaweed and eat it in one bite. Getting vegetables along with the sashimi felt different from eating it one slice at a time.
Third, with white kimchi

The table guide also showed a way to eat it by putting mackerel sashimi and seasoned vegetables on top of white kimchi. Now I understood why white kimchi comes with the basic setting.
Fourth, mackerel sushi with soy sauce and wasabi
You put the sashimi on a small ball of sushi rice and add soy sauce and wasabi to taste. It was fun to compare how it feels eating the sashimi alone versus with rice.
Going through the methods on the table one by one and combining them to your own taste was part of the fun at Haneobuui Godeungeosarang.
What about a sashimi meal in Haeundae?
Haneobuui Godeungeosarang Haeundae is a place where you can enjoy a variety of seafood dishes in one spot, centered on mackerel and horse mackerel sashimi.

Personally, I found it interesting that you can do more than eat sashimi slice by slice: you can make it into sushi or add seaweed and seasoned vegetables. The table was varied and the inside was neatly kept, so the mood was relaxed throughout the meal.

If you're looking for a good place near Haeundae Station, or wondering about a sashimi lunch in Haeundae, and you like mackerel and horse mackerel sashimi, it's worth a look. 💕
