Windshield oil-film remover test: AutoGrooming Clean View

When driving on rainy days, my windshield looked hazy, so I wanted to try removing the oil film. I tried AutoGrooming Clean View on my car windshield, rubbing it in with the dedicated towel. My father did the actual work for me.

At the time of the original post, the 120g product cost ₩9,900, with ₩3,000 shipping charged separately. I also checked the product information before using it.

The box contained the cream-like oil-film remover and a dedicated towel. I liked that I did not have to prepare a towel separately. The towel was softer than I expected, so it seemed less burdensome to wipe the glass with.

What is the order for using it on a car windshield?

• First remove any dirt from the glass surface.
• Spread the oil-film remover over the glass surface.
• Rub it several times with the dedicated towel.
• Rinse thoroughly with water.

This time, I worked on the car windshield. Rainy-day visibility had felt frustrating, so with my father's help, I finally got around to the job I had been putting off.

What difference showed on the windshield before and after?

The surface condition looked different between the treated area and the area that had not yet been treated, so it was easy to tell them apart visually. Even I, someone who is not used to car care, could notice the difference.

Before the treatment, when I sprayed water, it seemed to spread in blotchy patches. After removing the oil film, the water appeared to spread evenly across the glass surface. The difference in how the water spread was what stood out most during this use.

How were the work time and rubbing effort?

This windshield job took less than 10 minutes. At first, I thought I would have to rub very hard, but it was relatively easy to work with. I felt it took less effort and time than other well-known oil-film removers, though that is just my personal impression from this job.

Rather than wiping it off with a wet towel after applying the product, I thought rinsing it with high-pressure water at a car wash would be more efficient.

With the dedicated towel included and the steps not being complicated, it seemed convenient for self-maintenance. Before use, it was important to remove dirt from the glass surface thoroughly, and afterward, it was important to rinse thoroughly with water so no residue remained.

Even I, someone who had not been particularly interested in car care, became interested after seeing the before-and-after difference. This time I removed the windshield oil film, and next time I am thinking of trying a water-repellent coating too.
