Yeoju dakgalbi restaurant with staff grilling: Seorak Makguksu

How was it to stop by after shopping at Yeoju Outlet?

After finishing my shopping at Yeoju Outlet, I was looking for somewhere to eat and stopped by Seorak Makguksu Chuncheon Dakgalbi Yeoju IC Branch (설악막국수 춘천닭갈비 여주IC점). I usually like dakgalbi, and this time I was curious about the charcoal-grilled style.

The restaurant is at 483 Sejong-ro, Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do. Since it is near Yeoju IC, I felt that visiting by car would be convenient. The parking lot was spacious, and it worked well as a place to drive to for a meal after shopping at the outlet.

The hours listed in the original were 11:00–21:30, and the restaurant is closed every Tuesday. The listed break time is 15:30–16:30.

Is it suitable for a family meal or a group?

When I arrived, the restaurant already felt large from the outside. Once I went in, I found the interior spacious as well.

The tables were arranged with plenty of space between them, so I thought it would work for a family meal, group gathering, or company dinner. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was lively, with diners chatting and laughing.

What did I order, and do the staff grill the dakgalbi?

The two of us ordered two servings of charcoal-grilled seasoned dakgalbi. We also received memil-jeonbyeong (buckwheat-filled pancakes) through a review event.

The staff grilled the dakgalbi for us. With charcoal, it can be easy to worry about the heat and timing, so having someone else grill it made the meal more comfortable. I also liked the charcoal aroma that rose as the seasoning cooked.

When I tried it, the charcoal aroma gave it a flavor reminiscent of barbecue. The seasoning also paired well with the smoky aroma. With two servings of dakgalbi and the memil-jeonbyeong, the two of us had a filling meal.

After the dakgalbi was fully cooked, the staff placed a plate over the grill so it would not burn. I appreciated that they continued to take care of details like this while we ate.

What was the best way to eat the dakgalbi?

I enjoyed it more wrapped in vegetables than eating the dakgalbi on its own. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, which went well with the charcoal aroma on the dakgalbi. The combination did not feel greasy, so I kept making more wraps.

How was the memil-jeonbyeong from the review event?

I expected the memil-jeonbyeong to be a light side dish, but the texture of the wrapper stood out. It felt crisp on the outside and chewy inside, which seemed a little different from the jeonbyeong I usually eat. I could also taste juices in the filling.

Eating the dakgalbi and jeonbyeong together filled us up faster than expected. I did not get to try the makguksu this time, so I would like to have it together with the dakgalbi on my next visit.
