What kind of gukbap restaurant is Boseung Hoegwan at Cheonho Station?
Boseung Hoegwan Cheonho Station Branch (보승회관 천호역점) is a Cheonho gukbap spot near the station that's great for a hearty meal on your own. With so many kinds of gukbap, it was just right for a solo lunch near Cheonho Station. Since it's open 24 hours, it also seems good for a late-night meal, or as a second-round drinking spot with sundae jeongol (sundae hotpot) and drinks haha.

Which exit of Cheonho Station is closest?
The restaurant is a one-minute walk from Exit 3 of Cheonho Station. Walk a little way straight ahead after coming out, and Boseung Hoegwan is right behind the bus stop, so it's very easy to reach.

Atmosphere and seating
The inside runs quite deep and wide, so it seems good for group gatherings in Cheonho too. If you sit near the entrance, you can see buses pulling into the bus stop, so it's a super-duper-close-to-the-station restaurant haha.

Even with such a big space, it was full of people, which shows how popular this Cheonho eatery is. A steaming bowl of gukbap is perfect for eating alone, so there were really a lot of solo diners too!

Menu and how to order
You order on the tablet at the table, and there's also an easy-to-scan printed menu for reference. The gukbap selection is very wide, and there are plenty of drinking snacks alongside the meals, so it doubles as a pub near Cheonho Station where you can order to your taste. It's my usual order, but I got the plain sundaeguk, the pork gukbap and the bone hangover soup. Last time I also tried the new summer bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) with gukbap, and they went well together!

Standard sides and extra sides via tablet
The standard sides are napa cabbage kimchi, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), chives and salted shrimp, plus a sauce for the bone soup. You can also request extra sides on the tablet, and we asked for and got onion, garlic, ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste) and perilla seed powder! Garlic and onion are a must with gukbap, a true Korean through and through haha.

A 500ml Coke Zero with the sundaeguk
The drink you absolutely need with sundaeguk! Heh. When it gets a little greasy or you're getting full, a glass of Coke Zero washes it all down so you can keep eating happily haha. The drink comes in a 500ml size, which is plenty, and that's nice.

Can you order the sundaeguk and pork gukbap without the seasoning paste?
Even the plain sundaeguk here comes with seasoning. The milky broth is impressive, with a spicy seasoning paste hidden inside, so just stir it in well.

I also ordered the plain pork gukbap, and sure enough it had perilla seed powder and seasoning paste in it! Both gukbap come with the paste, so if you want it left out, just press the request button when ordering.

How big is the bone hangover soup at Boseung Hoegwan?
The bone hangover soup comes in an earthenware pot about 1.5 times more enormous than the sundaeguk or pork gukbap haha.

Adding chives to sundae gukbap is a must!

Push the chives down into the broth so they wilt.

And the hefty meat in the bone soup! There are 3, maybe 4, big bones in there, with thick lean meat attached.

Tender, well-cooked ugeoji (dried cabbage leaves) are packed into the bone soup too!!

Meat portion in the pork gukbap and the sundae types in the sundaeguk
The pork gukbap is full of meat. It has plenty of boiled pork and comes with rice, so it's a perfectly filling meal.

You can choose the sundaeguk with sundae only, which is a big plus! It also has three kinds of sundae in total, so it's good for enjoying a variety of flavors.

Take a sip of the hot bone soup broth, then pick off the tender meat, put it on your spoon and take a big bite. So good haha.
