Weeknight Sinnonhyeon café, matcha einspänner: Something About Coffee
In short
Something About Coffee is a large dessert café that fills an entire building, up the Gangnam CGV alley between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station in Seoul. On a weekday evening the writer ordered a matcha einspänner and a café latte with a pistachio matcha cheesecake and an egg cookie. The matcha einspänner loaded with matcha cream and the bittersweet pistachio matcha cheesecake at Something About Coffee made an especially satisfying pairing.

If you're looking for a big café near Gangnam Station, Something About Coffee is a good pick. It's famous as a dessert café near Sinnonhyeon Station, and I had a lovely time there haha.
Where is Something About Coffee, and what are its hours?
Something About Coffee is a 5-minute walk up the Gangnam CGV alley between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station. It's open daily from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

It's open until 10:30 p.m., which is handy for a Gangnam Station café. They say the desserts are made with French Gourmet butter, French chocolate, Guérande salt, Finnish cream cheese (is it Philadelphia cream cheese or Finnish? But the sign spells it oddly, so what is it, really... haha), 100% dairy fresh cream, French black tea leaves and 100% almonds.

How big is Something About Coffee inside?
The café uses the whole building, so the inside is seriously big haha. Even so, it was packed with people on a weekday evening. I can't even tell how popular this place is!!!!

The 1st floor has only seats, and orders are taken on the 2nd floor, which also has seats, plus there's a 3rd floor and even a rooftop!!! That's how huge this Gangnam Station café is.

Are the desserts at Something About Coffee displayed hygienically?
The café is full of desserts that look delicious just sitting there. With so many people around, each dessert is covered so dust can't get in, which felt hygienic. Whenever I go to crowded cafés, so many places just display bread and desserts out in the bustle as if it's nothing...!!!!

There's a really wide range of desserts sorted by type, so you can find a bakery treat to suit your taste at this Sinnonhyeon café, Something About Coffee.

What drinks are on the Something About Coffee menu?
The drink menu is right next to the 2nd-floor counter. There are many kinds of drinks, coffee included, and seeing the menu in both Korean and English made me wonder if lots of foreign visitors come here.

Hoji choux milk tea, roasted green tea milk tea topped with baby cream puffs? That sounds so good!?!? They also sell yangzhi ganlu (mango-pomelo-sago dessert flavor) gelato, so you can get sour and sweet at once. The matcha café latte and matcha einspänner, topped with thick matcha cream, looked too good as well, so those were my drinks of the day. Winner winner!

Showcase cakes plus mango and melon sandos
The refrigerated showcase holds gorgeous-looking cakes.

Look at the mango sando and melon sando, wow!! Soft bread, moist fresh cream and sweet fruit, so how could it not be good haha. The cakes look absolutely perfect too!!

When the buzzer goes off, go to the counter to pick up your drinks and desserts.

How do the matcha einspänner and café latte taste?
Here's a group photo of the drinks and desserts I ordered! The matcha einspänner comes with matcha cream filled right up to the top of the glass. Just looking at it, I could almost smell the bittersweet matcha haha.
I ordered a café latte too, and it came with heart-shaped latte art haha.

Pistachio matcha cheesecake and egg cookie
With the matcha einspänner, I picked the pistachio matcha cheesecake as dessert haha.

I also chose the egg cookie, which I figured is basically a crispy egg tart haha.

The pistachio matcha cheesecake has a rich matcha, dense cheesecake base topped with pistachio cream and pistachio crumble, so of course it can't be bad!!!!

Eating the bittersweet matcha cheesecake together with the matcha einspänner is a winner! I spent a sweet, happy time at Something About Coffee, a Sinnonhyeon Station café with a wide variety of tasty desserts haha.
