Hanyang University dessert café: cheesecake and Matilda cake, Eojil In

Eojil In is a café near Wangsimni Station where you can find tasty desserts and coffee. Its name comes from the Chinese character 仁 (in, "benevolence"), and with desserts and coffee this good I really did feel my generosity growing (haha). I had a lovely time at this Wangsimni dessert favorite.

Where is Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch?

Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch (어질 인 왕십리역점) is a 10-second walk from Exit 6 of Wangsimni Station. It's a super-super-super-close station café, and the café's name in Chinese characters glows in lights at the entrance, which is unique and memorable.

Fun fact: there's also a small Eojil In bakery near the café! Haha.

Eojil In drink menu and discounts

Eojil In's signature drink is the Café Milk Bowl, which you can think of as a fancy affogato: sweet ice cream with strong coffee. If you write a Naver receipt review, you get a random baked treat as a freebie, and takeout Americanos or lattes get ₩2,000 off. Nice! I'm especially curious what the handmade cola with 10 spices tastes like..!!!

Eojil In cake menu and prices

Eojil In is also famous for its desserts, and no wonder: just look at them, there's no way these taste bad!!!!

The new Dojima roll (₩5,800) is made with 100% dairy fresh cream, so the flavor must be wonderfully rich. The best-selling signature Basque cheesecake (₩5,900) is cheap and quite large, so great value! There's also a matcha Basque cheesecake (₩6,900). All three looked delicious and I agonized for a while, then picked the classic Basque cheesecake for the first time in ages.

Eojil In financier and madeleine prices and gift boxes

Baked goods are lined up prettily at Eojil In. The financiers (small almond butter cakes) are the Classic (₩2,900), Valrhona Chocolate (₩3,500), Cream Cheese (₩3,800) and Churros (₩3,500).

The madeleines (shell-shaped sponge cakes) are Chocolate, Earl Grey and Lemon at ₩3,500 each, and the most basic Vanilla at ₩2,900. They're thick and look great too!

The financiers and madeleines can be packed in gift boxes, so it seems like a good spot for dessert gifts near Hanyang University.

They also have pain aux Suisse and egg tarts, but the thing that grabbed our eyes most intensely was...!!!!

The Matilda chocolate cake!!! It looked like it would have a properly sticky, gooey chocolate flavor, so we ordered it like people in a trance, haha.

Is there enough seating at Eojil In?

Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch runs on two floors, 1 and 2, but the space isn't very large. So I recommend grabbing a seat as soon as you walk in, then ordering.

How do the Café Milk Bowl, latte, Basque cheesecake and Matilda cake taste?

Here are our coffee and desserts! Eojil In serves them on a wooden tray, which looked pretty too, haha.

Ice cream prettily set on strong coffee, a rich café latte with pretty latte art, and two kinds of cake. So happy!!! Haha.

The ice cream in the Café Milk Bowl is really good on its own, and the coffee underneath is very strong and nutty, so mixing them together later was amazing, haha. The café latte was also really nutty and delicious. Totally satisfied...!!

The Basque cheesecake has an appealingly dense, thick texture, and the Matilda chocolate cake was less sweet than I expected, with chocolate's characteristic bitterness, so the two cakes went together very well.

With two kinds of cake, of course we ate every bite, haha. I had a lovely time at Eojil In, the Wangsimni Station café for good coffee and desserts.
