Yangjae pie takeout for sugar-free walnut pie: Hodu Kkakki Brothers

I brought home some delicious dessert from Yangjae: Hodu Kkakki Brothers (호두까끼형제), a great dessert café near Yangjae Station. Its walnut pie, pecan pie and pumpkin pie are made without sugar but still taste sweet, and I think they would make a nice dessert gift for Dogok-dong too haha.

Where is the Hodu Kkakki Brothers Yangjae main branch, and can you sit and eat there?

The Yangjae main branch of Hodu Kkakki Brothers is a 3-minute walk from Yangjae Station Exit 3, tucked into a quiet side street. The Yangjae branch is takeout only, while the Bangbae branch near Naebang Station has seating inside, so that is the one for enjoying coffee and dessert on the spot.

At the entrance there are gift boxes for the pies and dessert models on display. Open the red door and you are inside the Hodu Kkakki Brothers main branch.

How long do the pies keep, and which set is best for first-timers?

The pies keep for up to 7 days in the fridge or 30 days in the freezer, so good to know! There are three sets of signature pies, and if it's your first visit I especially recommend Set No. 1. It includes two slices each of walnut pie, pecan pie, hazelnut cacao pie and macadamia cheese pie, so pretty much anyone will enjoy it.

There are 8 kinds of pie in total, which is great! Every pie is sold by the slice or as a whole pie.

The Yangjae main branch has no space to drink inside, but there is a good range of coffee too. They use a special blend of Kenyan, Colombian and Indonesian beans roasted over direct fire, said to give rich flavor and aroma, so I recommend grabbing a coffee along with your walnut pie.

The Dubai crispy pie comes in a round shape, and buying 6 lets you get them in a box. I was really curious, but I had decided to take walnut pie home that day, so I'll save it for next time! haha

Hodu Kkakki Brothers in Yangjae-dong is also a designated harmful-organism pest control area, and there are piles of boxes of the California coffee beans the shop uses.

Walnut, pecan and pumpkin pie set: how did they taste?

At Hodu Kkakki Brothers I put together a set of two walnut pie slices, two pecan pie slices and four pumpkin pie slices. Look how pretty the yellow pumpkin pie is!!!!

Sweet pumpkin pie

The pumpkin pie lets you really enjoy that sweet pumpkin flavor. It tastes like soft pumpkin ground fine, so you get the real taste of the pumpkin itself.

Walnut pie

The walnut pie is made without sugar, so you can enjoy the sweetness in a healthier way! The crunchy texture of the walnuts is really appealing.

Pecan pie

The pecan pie is really delicious too!!!! haha Hodu Kkakki Brothers is a great Yangjae spot for tasty dessert. Next time I'll try another dessert, and I definitely have to try the Dubai crispy pie then haha
