Gukbap restaurant in Sindang, Seoul: dinner with Mom at Palpalneoguri
In short
Palpalneoguri Haejang Sindang Main Branch is a beef gukbap (rice soup) restaurant in Jung-gu, Seoul, a 1-minute walk from Exit 1 of Sindang Station. On a weekday evening with Mom, the writer had the spicy Neoguri udon gukbap and the clear Sal Sal boneless gukbap, and kept refilling the tasty kimchi and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi). The limited-quantity bone-rib soup was sold out by evening, but Palpalneoguri Haejang's rich broth and generous beef make it a great place for a hangover meal.

Today I'm sharing my visit to Palpalneoguri Haejang Sindang Main Branch (팔팔너구리해장 신당본점), famous near Sindang Station as a beef gukbap (rice soup) spot and a go-to for hangover soup and a restorative meal.

The restaurant sits right in front of the subway station, so it was easy to find by public transport.
🚗 Parking: paid parking at Hwanghak Children's Park public parking lot
If you come by car, the Hwanghak Children's Park public parking lot, a 3-minute walk from the restaurant, was convenient.
For details, please see my earlier post about the Hwanghak Children's Park parking lot :)

This is the outside of the restaurant. Posters of the signature beef udon gukbap, bone-rib suyuk (boiled meat), bone-rib soup and more were hanging up looking so delicious that my mouth watered just looking. Every menu item is available for takeout, and there were lots of takeout customers too.

Solo seats and a weekday evening atmosphere
Inside, there were tables for four and solo seats for dining alone, and the whole place felt spacious and pleasant. Palpalneoguri Haejang is already a popular gukbap restaurant known as a Sindang Korean food favorite, so when I went on a weekday evening it was almost full.

There are also cute raccoon aprons in the restaurant, so you can eat spicy gukbap without worrying about splashing your clothes :)

10% off for wedding invitation gatherings
There's also an event that engaged couples will love. If you bring your wedding invitation and visit with 5 or more people for a wedding invitation gathering, you get 10% off, so it seems like a good place for one :)

Every table has salt, pepper and chili powder so you can season the soup to your taste, and I liked that the spoons and chopsticks were prepared hygienically too. The raccoon character in the restaurant was just so cute, T_T

Palpalneoguri Haejang menu: bone-rib soup sold out in the evening
This is the menu. True to a gukbap specialist, there was a wide range: the signature beef udon gukbap (Neoguri udon gukbap), Sal Sal boneless gukbap, seonji haejangguk (ox-blood hangover soup), bone-rib soup, beef jeongol (hot pot) and more. Note that the bone-rib soup is sold in limited quantity, and when I visited in the evening it was already sold out T_T

You order on a tablet at the table, and being able to choose from food photos was convenient.

Spicy Neoguri udon gukbap and clear Sal Sal boneless gukbap: how do they taste?
We ordered the signature dishes, the spicy Neoguri udon gukbap and the clear Sal Sal boneless gukbap, and they looked so appetizing even before we ate. The kimchi and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) served with the gukbap were really good too, so we kept asking for refills :)
Neoguri udon gukbap (spicy)
I ordered the spicy Neoguri udon gukbap, also called beef udon gukbap. As the name says, the spicy, rich gukbap broth was packed with udon noodles and beef, and it really settled my stomach, a perfect hangover meal.
Sal Sal boneless gukbap (clear)
Mom ordered the clear Sal Sal boneless gukbap, and the broth was impressively mild yet deep in flavor. It had a seriously huge amount of tender beef, so one bowl made a hearty meal, and it's perfect for anyone who likes gukbap that isn't harsh.
Would I go back for hangover gukbap at Sindang Station?
That was my honest review of the hearty spicy Neoguri udon gukbap and clear Sal Sal boneless gukbap at Palpalneoguri Haejang. The broth was rich yet mild, the best gukbap I've had recently, and I keep thinking about it. The owner was super cheerful and kind, and it's a popular gukbap spot with plenty of customers even on weekdays.

If you're looking for Korean gukbap or a hangover meal in Sindang, give Palpalneoguri Haejang Sindang Main Branch a try. :)
