Let me introduce Yeongpo, a Sinjungdong bar that is great for a drink with lots of Korean-style snacks. Yeongpo is a Korean pocha (street-tent-style pub) inspired by the Yeongdong Pocha vibe of Gangnam, and instead of meal kits you get dishes cooked on the spot after you order. From light bites to hearty, meal-worthy dishes, the menu is wide enough that it works for a first round or a second stop :)

Patio seats in front of Yeongpo

There are patio seats right in front of Yeongpo, so on a cool day you can sit outside with a nice breeze and a drink. Because it sits in the Sinjungdong patio-bar street, outdoor tables stretch out all around, which gives you the full pocha feel.

Inside Yeongpo: atmosphere and private hire for groups

Retro-style interior of Yeongpo
Seating inside Yeongpo with open windows

The inside has a retro feel, and since the shop is newly opened it was clean overall. The windows are open, so it felt airy rather than stuffy.

Yeongpo interior space available for group hire

You can also book the space for 15 to 40 people, so it looked like a good choice for group gatherings and company dinners, haha.

Yeongpo menu and complimentary side snacks

Menu of Yeongpo, a Korean pocha

True to a Korean pocha, Yeongpo has plenty of dishes that work as a meal with a drink on the side, such as braised pork rib kimchi stew, blue crab soup, boiled pork slices (suyuk), and webfoot octopus with pork belly! I was even more excited to hear that every dish is cooked to order, with no meal kits.

Honey twist snacks, Yeongpo's complimentary starter

After ordering, they bring out honey twist snacks (kkwabaegi) as a free starter to whet your appetite before the main dish. They're sweet and crunchy, perfect to nibble on one by one while you wait.😋

Yeongpo chicken feet soup with bean sprouts on top: how is it?

Yeongpo's boneless chicken feet soup in red sauce

The boneless chicken feet soup (₩23,000) we ordered as the main was soaked in red sauce and looked delicious just to look at. You can choose between bone-in and boneless, and the sauce is spicy yet rich in savory depth, so I kept reaching for more.

When you order chicken feet, a bean sprout soup comes with it. The broth is cool and clean, so it was great for soothing your mouth between bites of the spicy chicken feet.

I fished out just the bean sprouts from the soup and piled them generously on top of the chicken feet. It added a nice crunch and calmed the heat, so it was a perfect combination.

Adding udon noodles to the chicken feet soup

And of course we added udon noodles (₩3,000), which you can't skip with spicy sauce..!

The chewy udon soaked up the spicy broth and was great slurped together with the chicken feet, and picking through the egg and rice cakes that come in the pot was fun too.

Yeongpo draft beer price and sweet condensed-milk melon dessert

300cc draft beer at Yeongpo

Yeongpo's 300cc draft beer is only ₩2,900, a great-value price that makes it easy to order without worry, so a light drink each is a good idea.🍺

Yeongpo's dessert, sweet condensed-milk melon
A piece of melon drizzled with condensed milk

Last, we ordered the sweet condensed-milk melon (₩10,000): cool melon with sweet condensed milk, easy to pick at piece by piece, and perfect for cleansing your palate after spicy chicken feet. I highly recommend it as a dessert.

Yeongpo, the Sinjungdong bar where you can enjoy lots of Korean-style snacks, serves dishes cooked to order and pairs them with good-value draft beer, so it was a lovely place for a drink. It's close to Sinjungdong Station and allows dogs indoors, so if you're looking for a dog-friendly bar in Bucheon, I hope you'll give it a visit :)
