Hodukkakki Brothers is a handmade pie shop that doesn't use refined sugar. I found the perfect place for my mom 🙋‍♀️ But the look of it seemed familiar........ I was sure I'd seen it somewhere......... Turns out it's already a famous dessert spot near my office!!! (They say the walnut pie shop has been running since 2017 at Yangjae Station.) I'd seen it on my commute and the words "sugar-free walnut pie" caught my eye, so I'd been meaning to go someday! Today I happened to have an outside meeting near Naebang Station, so I decided to pick it up on my way home after the meeting!

Shop atmosphere and eat-in space

The moment you walk into Hodukkakki Brothers Bangbae branch, you smell a gentle sweetness and nuttiness... sniff sniff, such a lovely smell ❤️ Oh, there's an eat-in area too! It would be nice for a coffee and tea break. And the thing I liked most was that it's sugar-free! They say the pies are 100% handmade, sweetened only with oligosaccharide syrup and honey and the like 👏👏 A food marketer like me is hooked on selling points like "handmade" and "handcrafted", okay!!

Hodukkakki Brothers has a wide variety of pies, and you can even build a customized set with just the ones you want. Love that 👍👍👍 I went with the Premium Nut Pie Set 🙋‍♀️

Shelf life is 7 days refrigerated, 30 days frozen, and 3 days for cream-based pies! They don't add any preservatives, so I actually love that the shelf life is short ❤️❤️

A luxurious package that's great for gifts

And seriously, why is the Hodukkakki Brothers packaging so fancy?! ✨ It looks great enough that both the giver and the receiver will be happy, and it put me in a great mood! They even thoughtfully packed an extra plastic bag so the package is easy to carry. (If the packaging is meh, I'm the kind of person who skips it when buying a gift!)

Refrigerated vs. frozen: which tastes better?

I asked the owner how best to enjoy the pies, and was told they're good chilled in the fridge, so I did half in the fridge and half in the freezer! I decided to run my own taste test to see which version is better 😇

We ate the Hodukkakki Brothers pies with coffee while visiting my parents' farm, looking at the nature view. Total healing time... 😇❤️ One tasty thing next to another tasty thing, so happy 👏👏👏👏

The Premium Nut Pie Set has such a nice balance of different nuts that you never get bored and can enjoy a bit of everything! The Signature Walnut Pie is, of course, delicious, no questions asked! And my personal taste: the Hazelnut Cacao Pie, please eat it twice! Three times! It pairs perfectly with an iced americano ❤️

And the frozen version was even better! Straight into the freezer as soon as you buy it. The tart base is surprisingly moist, so it didn't get hard even when frozen. Let's all try the amazingly tasty Hazelnut Cacao Pie 🙋‍♀️
