Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Wonju Enterprise City Branch (한마음정육식당 원주기업도시점) is a BBQ restaurant grilling aged meat in Wonju Enterprise City, and we came for dinner during a family trip. My husband had a business trip to Wonju, so we turned it into a family getaway. After the Sogeumsan suspension bridge and some sightseeing downtown, we wanted good meat for dinner, so here we are :D

The big space, kids' zone, wide range of banchan (side dishes) and aged meat all satisfied us, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good Wonju Enterprise City restaurant. With high chairs and a kids' zone it suits families, and with group seats and private rooms it also looks great for company dinners and group gatherings.

🚗 You can use the parking lot in the building free for up to 4 hours. Families and groups arriving by car can park easily.

Inside Hanmaeum: 100-pyeong hall, tablet ordering, group tables and private rooms

The hall is about 100 pyeong, so tables are spaced generously and you can eat in a relaxed way. Best of all, every table has a tablet for ordering, which was really convenient. There are high chairs, family seats, group seats and even rooms, so it would work for family events as well as workshops and company dinners.

Is Hanmaeum's kids' room good for families with children?

The kids' room is spacious, almost like a small kids' café. I expected the usual tiny play corner in a restaurant, but it had all kinds of play equipment where children can run around happily.

You can also watch the kids on a monitor from your seat, which gave us real peace of mind as parents. The kids had fun and we could eat more calmly, so it was a very satisfying place for a family meal. If you have children, this kids' room might be one of the main reasons I'd single this out among Wonju Enterprise City restaurants.

What we ordered: half-pig pork set, rice and naengmyeon

To try several cuts at once, we ordered the half-pig set with pork belly, five-layer pork belly, neck, jowl and gabrisal (the cut from the pork neck-shoulder junction), plus rice and naengmyeon (cold noodles) :)

Banchan, the self-serve bar and free doenjang stew

The basic table setting is a full spread: fresh lettuce wraps, pickled onions, salad, marinated raw crab, scallion salad, myeongina (wild garlic) leaves, pickles, acorn jelly salad, kimchi, potato salad and lotus root. It looked hearty just sitting there.

None of the banchan was overly seasoned, so they went well with the meat, and anything you run out of you can grab freely from the self-serve bar, which is extra handy.

Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) is also served free, with refills, so we could keep it hot throughout the meal. It had a deep, homemade-doenjang flavor and went really well with the meat.

The half-pig pork set: five cuts on one platter

The half-pig set came with pork belly, five-layer pork belly, neck, jowl and gabrisal all neatly on one plate :) Pineapple, mushrooms and herbs were plated alongside, so it looked appetizing, and you could see the freshness in the color of the meat. Eating just one cut can get a bit boring, so being able to enjoy several cuts together was great.

How we ate the half-pig pork set

We wrapped well-grilled meat in myeongina, ate it with scallion salad, ate it with lettuce wraps, and more! Especially with the pickled onions, which cut the greasiness so we could finish cleanly and enjoy it even more.

With the grilled pork belly, the crunchy, refreshing geotjeori (fresh-style kimchi salad) was the best combo, and sometimes we ate it with a spoonful of doenjang stew. The generous basic banchan really brought out the flavor of the meat.

Dessert at Hanmaeum: yogurt ice cream and coffee

For dessert, yogurt ice cream and coffee are available. It was a Wonju BBQ restaurant where even the finish was well covered.

Verdict: is Hanmaeum good for family meals and company dinners in Wonju Enterprise City?

Besides the excellent quality of the aged meat, the half-pig set, which lets you enjoy many cuts at once, was good value, and the neat, varied banchan made for a filling, tasty meal.

Thanks to the large space and kids' zone, it was really easy to visit with children: parents eat in comfort while the kids play happily, so I highly recommend it for family meals! It also has large spaces for group reservations such as company dinners or workshops, and with convenient parking the access is top-notch too.
