Seongnam bossam restaurant: 3-serving bossam and beer for two
In short
Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch is a bossam (boiled pork wraps) and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant next to Sangdaewon Market and behind Grand Maison in Jungwon-gu, Seongnam. Two people shared a 3-serving medium gabrisal bossam (pork shoulder-loin cut) for 45,000 won with extra kalguksu noodles and beer. They ate chewy noodles, tender pork and not-too-salty kimchi until stuffed, then still ordered more noodles. With generous portions and unlimited rice at the self-bar, Bossam Ae Kalguksu is a Sangdaewon-dong bossam spot that suits two big eaters.

How did we find Bossam Ae Kalguksu next to Sangdaewon Market?
Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch (보쌈애칼국수 성남상대원점) is a bossam and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant next to Sangdaewon Market in Jungwon-gu, Seongnam, right behind Grand Maison. A new bossam place had opened on my way home from Gwangju and it looked so good. So today I drove over on purpose to find a great Seongnam bossam restaurant.

Bossam Ae Kalguksu has been popping up as a chain lately, and I was super curious what the Sangdaewon branch would taste like.

Is there parking, reservations and a takeout discount?
- Parking available
- Reservations accepted
- Takeout discount: -₩3,000
Takeout gets a whopping ₩3,000 off. You can also reserve ahead and eat without waiting.
What's on the menu and how much is it?
The bossam set (보쌈정식) is ₩10,000, and the special bossam set (특보쌈정식) comes with 120g of meat plus kalguksu for ₩13,000. I checked the menu before going in, and a bossam set for ten thousand won? Amazing! Is that even a real price?

They also just launched hongeo samhap (홍어삼합, fermented skate with pork and kimchi).

Seongnam bossam spot next to Sangdaewon Market, let's head in and order!
There's a kids' set (어린이정식) too, with a kids' drink, rice and meat, so it seems fine to bring children.

We ordered the medium gabrisal bossam for three, just the two of us
For two people we ordered the medium gabrisal bossam (가브리살보쌈 중, serves 3) at ₩45,000, plus extra kalguksu noodles (₩2,000) and beer (₩5,000). There are only two of us but we ordered bossam for three^^,,, two people eating for three, order done!
Add-ons include extra kalguksu noodles, sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes), kalguksu vegetables, makguksu (buckwheat noodles), extra hongeo, extra meat and extra aged kimchi. There are dumpling add-ons too, and raw eggs for making porridge.
How are the kalguksu noodles at Bossam Ae Kalguksu?
The kalguksu noodles here are really chewy and soft. I was gulping down some water when the broth came out first. We threw the noodles and vegetables into the broth, turned on the heat and let it boil!
Oh my, that's a lot of noodles! It's a tasty kalguksu packed with green onion, carrot and zucchini.

The kimchi is baechu kimchi (napa cabbage) and pa kimchi (green onion). Hongeo samhap comes out too, so if you like hongeo, give it a try.
Is the rice unlimited at the self-bar?
There's a self-bar on one side where you can grab more kimchi and sauces, and the rice is unlimited. Crazy, right???
I scooped a bowl of rice from a huge rice cooker. The place is so neat and clean, I love it. We scooped one bowl and shared it.

Get the kalguksu boiling first. By the time it's bubbling, the gabrisal bossam comes out, so you can enjoy it at the right moment. So delicious, this gabrisal bossam!

The beer came ice cold with cups,

so pour it out~!! Ahh,,, cold and so good.
I wanted my kalguksu spicy, so I put in all the cheongyang chili peppers. Nice and kick-y, so good.

How big is the medium gabrisal bossam?
The medium gabrisal bossam is quite a lot for two people, and the amount of kimchi is especially huge. Oh my, the gabrisal bossam came out just as the kalguksu started boiling. Looks tasty, right? It was really tender.
I was so shocked by the sheer amount of kimchi. Even after eating until I was really full, there was kimchi left over. The portion is enormous.

Let's enjoy the kimchi and bossam.

The kimchi isn't too salty, so you can eat plenty! It's great with the kalguksu and so, so good with the bossam.

The kalguksu cooks up so soft that it slides down your throat with zero friction. One bite of noodles, one piece of bossam.

Bossam and kalguksu with a view of Grand Maison
The restaurant is right behind Grand Maison, so I bet lots of residents of Grand Maison come to eat here. They say Seongnam has plenty of great bossam restaurants, but Sangdaewon's Bossam Ae Kalguksu is really delicious and good.

It's been so long since I came to Grand Maison, and it feels special. I built Grand Maison,,,,, and I'm proud it's holding up well. Bossam and kalguksu while looking at Grand Maison taste even better, don't they?

What should you wrap gabrisal bossam with?
The gabrisal bossam goes well with radish strips (mu-chae), steamed cabbage, kimchi and cheongyang chili. The meat is really tender and the softness never ends. The kimchi is also so tasty and crunchy.

Putting a bit of radish strips on the bossam is a really good match.

The two of us, oinking away like happy pigs.

And I love this cabbage. I often boil cabbage and regular cabbage to eat at home, and this seems to be just steamed cabbage.

Wrapping with it instead of vegetables is delicious, and wrapping kimchi like lettuce can't possibly be bad.

I wrapped cabbage and gabrisal bossam and ate a big mouthful. It goes so well with the kalguksu. It pairs well with kimchi and rice too.
Adding one cheongyang chili makes it even better. If you like spicy food, put a pepper on top.

We were full but added more noodles anyway
You can add broth and extra noodles here, so even though we were full, we ordered more broth and more noodles. Kalguksu topped with kimchi, slurp slurp, gabrisal bossam with kimchi, slurp slurp. You get so full, ugh, I'm so full.
But then suddenly we added broth and extra noodles. Are we even full? We ate the extra noodles until our bellies burst,

Ahh,,, finished, totally full! If you're looking for a good Seongnam bossam restaurant, visit Bossam Ae Kalguksu, next to Sangdaewon Market and behind Grand Maison.
