I went to a bakery in Gangdong again! Honestly, a good bakery makes me happy no matter when I go.

What kind of bakery is Stay Bread Myeongil branch?
Stay Bread Myeongil branch is a rice bread bakery café near Myeongil Station in Gangdong. This is already my third visit: twice I took bread to go, and once I stayed for a coffee and a single piece of bread.

The rice bread at Stay Bread is really good, so if you want gentle-on-the-stomach rice bread, come on over! The olive ciabatta in particular is amazing. Because it's rice bread, it feels easy on the stomach and you can eat a lot without feeling weighed down.

Rice bread is chewy, and it's delicious when it's made properly. Places that don't make it well end up with rice bread that smells odd and is tough, but well-made rice bread is truly delicious. The chewiness of the rice loaf especially has a texture I can't even put into words.
Today I'm going to Stay Bread Myeongil branch to pick out bread to eat all week.

After coming back from a trip, my bread basket was completely empty. Time to fill it up again! Stay Bread's americano is on the cheaper side too, and the upstairs seats are lovely, so it's a perfect place to relax.

Is there still bread left at 2 p.m.?
I visited Stay Bread Myeongil branch around 2 p.m., a bit after lunchtime, and some breads were already sold out. Still, the shelves were full of tasty bread, and most of it was fresh out of the oven and super warm.
There's castella (sponge cake), chocolate salt bread and brownies, plus sandwiches made fresh to order.
Ham and cheese sandwich and the Big Mammoth
I pick out one of the ham and cheese sandwiches that were already made. Doesn't it look so good? It's packed with egg, tomato and lettuce.
The Big Mammoth (a big cream-filled bread) looks so good too. It's made with mascarpone cream, so I bet the cream has a deep flavor.

When does Stay Bread start slicing the rice loaves?
Loaves like the Stay Bread red yeast rice loaf can be sliced from 2 p.m. The bread has to cool first, because if it's cut before it cools, it all gets squished.
And the rice loaf is seriously delicious! You could tear into a whole loaf and it would be incredible, but sliced like this it's also great for toasting. There's a red yeast rice loaf too.

There's also a chestnut loaf, a chewy, soft loaf with chestnuts inside.

Is there rice bread vegans can eat?
Stay Bread has a brown rice rye scorched-rice stone-oven bread that vegans can eat too. It's like a baguette and so good.

I also bought the brown rice sweet potato campagne (rustic country bread) last time. It's packed with sweet potato and the campagne is wonderfully nutty, so it's really, really good. Stay Bread isn't famous near Myeongil Station for nothing. For rice bread in Gangdong, this is the only place, period.

There are lots of kinds of campagne.

Which bread at Stay Bread do you recommend most?
I highly recommend the Stay Bread olive ciabatta. It's really soft: soft, tender and chewy, and the saltiness of the olives meets the softness of rice bread. So good.

The dinner rolls are good too. My little Kkongsuni loves the dinner rolls too...

And there's an olive rice loaf, a loaf packed with olives inside. Loaves with olives can't be sliced at all, no way.

A look at the rice breads at Stay Bread Myeongil branch
There are egg tarts and brown rice nut bagels too. Stay Bread makes even the tart shell from rice, so it's crispy.

I think the garlic baguette would be even better warmed once in an air fryer.

- Ssoktteok ssoktteok: a new mugwort bread with rice cake inside, so the chewiness really comes through
- Raspberry baguette and fig cream cheese baguette: don't they all look delicious?
- Corn custard cream bread: corn bread with custard cream inside
- Salt bread: chewy because it's rice bread, and even better after a spin in the air fryer. There's also a salt bread stuffed with pollack roe
- Mocha bun: looks tasty
- Brown rice bagel with red bean and butter: packed with butter and red bean inside
- Sausage bread: full of pizza flavor, so good
- Streusel bun (soboro): there was just one left, and I remember it being delicious, so I pick it up
- Red bean bun: a big chestnut sits on top, so so good

Next time I want to try the jambon-beurre (ham and butter) sandwich. It looks so good, really...
Red yeast rice is a red rice, and it's really tasty. It's the same red yeast rice that gives the red cake layers in red velvet cake their color.

Does Stay Bread ship its rice bread by courier?
I hear the Stay Bread rice breads in Myeongil-dong, Gangdong, can also be delivered by courier.

I picked out a lot, didn't I? It looks so good!! Mom and Dad and I are going to split it half and half.
Are there tastings and something to go with the bread?
At Stay Bread Myeongil branch I got to taste the brown rice nut campagne, and tastings are available every time you come! They also sell balsamic olive oil separately, and dipping the ciabatta in it is heavenly.

While my bread was being packed, I browsed the bread again for no reason, looking for any other tasty rice bread I'd missed.
Can you eat in at Stay Bread Myeongil branch?
Stay Bread Myeongil branch has seats on the 2nd floor, so you can eat upstairs. The 2nd floor is quite big and nice, so it's a good spot to take your time.
On the way up to the 2nd floor there are super cute Gromit and baguette models. Don't they look tasty? It's a bakery café in Gangdong near Myeongil Station that's great for relaxing over bread.

Come and enjoy a relaxing time here. They can warm your bread, and you can also pack up leftover bread.
Off I go home with my yummy bread, skip skip skip.

Sharing the Stay Bread haul with family at home
Mom and Dad are sandwich fanatics, so they get a ham and cheese sandwich plus a red bean bun and a cream bun, and my sister is an olive ciabatta fanatic, so I give her the olive ciabatta. Looks tasty, right???

See how generously it's filled inside the sandwich? Doesn't it look so good?? A sandwich that really looks amazing.

And so soft and packed with olives, so delicious, Stay Bread. Please visit Stay Bread, the rice bread café near Myeongil Station in Gangdong! This bread lover highly recommends it!
