Luone City briquette BBQ: 6,400-won pork belly, oil-dip jowl, Euljiro
In short
Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch (을지로연탄구이 루원시티점) is a briquette-grilled Korean BBQ restaurant with a retro old-pub feel in the Luone City food alley near Gajeong Station in Incheon. After spotting pork belly at 6,400 won per serving on the menu board, the writer grilled pork belly and pork jowl over yeontan briquettes, helped themselves to unlimited meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) from the self-bar, and finished with bean sprout hangover soup, doenjang stew and grilled pineapple. Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch is a great-value BBQ spot near Gajeong Station, with meat far better than its low prices suggest.

After going myself, I totally get why it has a reputation as a great spot in Luone City, Gajeong-dong and western Incheon for dinner!! 👍 If you like cheap pork belly, I'd recommend it without hesitation! Let me introduce it right away~!!
Where is Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch, and when is it open?
Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch is at 15 Yeomgok-ro 464beon-gil, Units 120 and 121, Seohae-gu, Incheon, and it's open from 16:00 until 05:00 in the morning (closing at 01:00 on Sundays and Mondays). It's in the Luone City food alley, so it was easy to find 😊
It's fairly close to Gajeong Station, so getting there by public transport is no trouble, and it's a perfect spot for dinner after work. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a BBQ place near Gajeong Station or in Luone City ❤️
Euljiro Yeontan Gui exterior and menu prices
The exterior has that old-school Euljiro vibe of a retro tavern, so the atmosphere looked great even before going in :> You can already feel it's going to be a good one!! 🔥
And one of the biggest perks here! They don't just sell meat, they also sell a variety of seafood like clams, shrimp and squid!! Meat and seafood grilled over briquettes, I love it so much ㅠㅠ❤️

There's a big menu board out front, so you can check prices before going in!! Super cheap for these days of high prices!!! ㅠㅠ Pork belly ₩6,400 per serving?!?!

Isn't that almost half of what pork belly costs these days? 😂 If you're looking for a great-value BBQ place or a cheap drinking spot in Luone City, run to Euljiro Yeontan Gui right now~!

Inside Euljiro Yeontan Gui: retro interior and tented terrace
Inside, a row of round tables really brings out that old tavern feel!! It's retro, but the place is kept really clean, which I liked even more!! 😊

The soft lighting makes the mood great, so it seemed perfect for coming with friends or for a company dinner!! I'd recommend it if you're looking for a place for a group dinner in Luone City or near Gajeong Station!! 😆

There's also terrace seating out front!! 🌙 They've set up a tent to give it a proper street-stall feel!! You get that outdoor BBQ atmosphere in Luone City and can enjoy it nice and cool!

We sat down at the table we were shown to and started looking over the menu!
What's on the menu at Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City?

The menu had everything from pork like pork belly, pork neck and pork jowl to beef! On top of that there's makchang (pork large intestine), pork skin, all kinds of seafood and meal dishes, so it's easy to order to everyone's taste even in a big group 👍 Isn't the menu design super cute?! ❤️

They're open late, so it looked great not just for a first round but also as a second-round drinking spot in Luone City 🍺 The origin of the meat was clearly displayed too, so I could eat with confidence!

I really wanted to try the seafood too 🤤 but today was a meat day!! So we ordered 🥩 pork belly 🥩 and pork jowl!

Briquette heat, side dishes and the self-serve bar
At Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch the briquette fire comes out first after you order, and it has vents to adjust the heat so you can set the grilling speed. After we ordered and waited a bit, they brought the briquette fire first, and the heat was no joke,, haha. I didn't know at first, but it turns out there's a vent to adjust the heat, so you can grill at your own pace 😊
Then the side dishes started coming out one by one!! Seasoned lettuce salad, onion salad, salt and ssamjang, a lineup that goes well with meat, were set out first!! 😋 Then came fresh lettuce wraps plus bean sprouts, garlic and napa cabbage kimchi that you can grill on the plate together!! ❤️
Unlimited meljeot at the Euljiro Yeontan Gui self-serve bar
And the self-bar was what I really liked! 👏👏 It's not just the basic side dishes, you can freely grab whatever you run out of, as much as you want!!
- Vegetables and sides: lettuce, pickled radish, garlic, bean sprouts, napa cabbage kimchi, pineapple
- Sauces: meljeot (salted fermented anchovy sauce), sesame oil, salt, roasted soybean powder, ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste), onion salad sauce
- Utensils: small plates, spoons and chopsticks, tongs, scissors
Being able to take as much meljeot as you like is honestly the best...❤️ Utensils like small plates, spoons and chopsticks, tongs and scissors were also free to use at the self-bar!!

Before the meat arrived, we also got bean sprout hangover soup, nice for settling the stomach 🍲 It was a bit salty and addictive, so I kept going back for more haha
How was the briquette-grilled pork belly?
The pork belly at Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch was a good thickness with a nice ratio of lean meat to fat, tender yet chewy, with a subtle briquette smoke flavor. Finally the meat we'd been waiting for arrived 😍 Pork belly, pork jowl and big king oyster mushrooms all came together!! The meat looked really fresh, and you could tell at a glance that the quality was good!
They put the pork belly on the grill first! As the meat cooks, a subtle briquette aroma sinks in, and this aroma is seriously crazy ㅠㅠㅠ It has a different charm from charcoal!!

The pork belly cooking up golden brown 😍 Kimchi and bean sprouts were grilled alongside, and with garlic on top, the look was pure great-BBQ-place!!

The thickness of the pork belly was just right, and above all the lean-to-fat ratio was golden, tender yet chewy! I'm really sensitive to gamey smells in meat, and I didn't notice even a hint of it! You could tell right when you ate it that they use fresh meat haha

I was convinced from the very first bite why people call it a top pork belly spot near Gajeong Station and in Luone City 😍

Once the meat was cooked, we lowered the briquette heat and it was time to really eat! I'm a meljeot lover, so I dunked the meat deep in meljeot and ate it with bean sprouts and onion salad! The flavor of the briquette-smoked meat went so well with the side dishes!

The lettuce wrap combo is a must too haha The meat is so good on its own that every combination was a success!

Pork jowl goes better with sesame oil dip than meljeot
The pork jowl at Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch has fat spread more evenly than the pork belly, so it was much more tender and chewy, and personally I liked it best dipped in the sesame oil dip (gireumjang). This time, the pork jowl I'd been looking forward to most 😍
The moment I bit in, juices filled my mouth, and the more I chewed the more nutty flavor kept coming!! 😆 It wasn't just greasy pork jowl, I could taste a clean lightness too, so it wasn't heavy at all!! It reminded me again why so many people love pork jowl >_<
This time, dipped in the oil dip! Personally I think pork jowl and oil dip are a perfect match ㅜㅜ With the nutty aroma of sesame oil, the pork jowl's own flavor came through much stronger 🤤

With that chewy texture on top, I kept reaching for more haha The meljeot was good too, but for pork jowl my vote goes to the oil dip 🙋♂️

I can't skip the king oyster mushrooms that came with it 🍄 Grilled slowly over the briquettes, the mushrooms picked up a subtle smoky flavor too!! Lightly golden outside and juicy inside, eating them between pieces of meat cleansed the palate, and the combo was really great haha
Finishing with rice, doenjang stew and grilled pineapple
To finish the meal at Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch we ordered steamed rice and doenjang stew, and for dessert we grilled the self-bar pineapple over the briquettes. After eating meat enthusiastically, it was time to wrap up!! Koreans only feel complete after meat and then rice, right?

The doenjang stew was packed with vegetables like zucchini, onion and tofu, and the broth was really clean-tasting!! Rather than thick and heavy, it felt refreshing and easy to eat, so it went really well with the meat!
Also, at Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch they bring soju and cola in an ice basket 🧊 That meant we could drink them cold to the very end, which was a plus haha!

And the last dessert was the pineapple 🍍 from the self-bar. I really love grilled pineapple, and with the subtle briquette smoke it felt totally like a dessert!! 😍 It cleaned up my greasy mouth and was a perfect finishing touch haha

Is Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City a good-value BBQ spot near Gajeong Station?
Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch was a BBQ place near Gajeong Station where the meat quality was far better than the ₩6,400-per-serving pork belly price suggests. I left really satisfied for the first time in a while! 😆 Honestly, with prices this low I didn't expect much, but the meat quality was way better than I thought, which surprised me!
With its retro atmosphere, it looked good for a drink with friends, and also fine for a company dinner or a family meal out!! 🍺😊 Above all, with the great value of pork belly at ₩6,400 per serving, I think the biggest plus is how easy it is to visit without worrying about the bill! If you're looking for a BBQ place near Gajeong Station, a good restaurant in Gajeong-dong or Luone City, or a dinner spot in western Incheon, give Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch a visit!!
