Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal (수유대왕솥뚜껑 삼겹살) is a pork and beef Korean BBQ restaurant in Gangbuk, Seoul. It sits inside an eatery alley 5 minutes on foot from Suyu Station Exit 7. After work, the writer and her mom shared the half-and-half pork platter for ₩29,000 (2 servings of pork belly plus 1 serving of pork neck) and added crab doenjang stew, cheese fried rice and muksabal (chilled acorn jelly soup); the meat was thick and the portions were large. Verdict: at Suyu Daewang, wrap the pork with garlic and meljeot (salted anchovy sauce), and order the muksabal in summer.

Ikseon-dong Korean BBQ with a pork jowl cutting tip: Meongseokjip

Meongseokjip Jongno 3-ga Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in the alleys of Ikseon-dong and Jongno 3-ga in Seoul, with long rows of outdoor street tables. On a packed weekday evening at Meongseokjip, the writer ordered the Meongseok Set (aged pork belly for 2 plus pork neck for 1) for 55,000 won, then added pork jowl for 19,000 won and brisket soybean paste stew for 7,000 won, and the owner explained that pork jowl should be cut long after checking the grain. With green onion kimchi refills from the self-serve bar and a 20-minute walk to Cheonggyecheon Stream afterwards, Meongseokjip makes a relaxing evening out.

Naju shabu-shabu for a three-generation family meal: Yuyu Shabu

Yuyu Shabu Naju Innovation City branch is a shabu-shabu restaurant with a vegetable self-serve bar on Baemet 1-gil in Naju Innovation City. Dining with a 5-year-old son and his grandfather, the family ordered the half-and-half shabu for 3 plus one extra serving of meat and egg porridge for 66,000 won in total, and Yuyu Shabu's baby chairs and baby dishware made eating out with a child easy. For a meal that three generations can share, shabu-shabu at Yuyu Shabu was the right answer.

Kid-friendly Korean restaurant near Yeonsu Station: Haemokjeong

Haemokjeong Yeonsu Main Branch is a Korean seafood and braised rib restaurant on the second floor of 120 Beotkkot-ro, right in front of Yeonsu Station on the Suin-Bundang Line in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. After a stop at the Samsung Service Center, the writer came with a young child and ordered the new boneless anglerfish stew (sunsal agujjim) at 35,000 won plus seaweed soup, with the adults taking the spicy stew and the child finishing a full bowl of rice with the soup. Baby chairs, baby dishes and spoons, and the building's own parking lot make Haemokjeong an easy pick for a family meal.
