Brunch restaurant in Bucheon for solo dining: Diavolo pasta at Andrew

In short

Andrew is a Western-style brunch restaurant near Exit 7 of Sinjungdong Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. The writer returned alone on a summer weekend, half a year after a winter visit, and ordered the ricotta salad, level-1 Diavolo pasta and a Zero Coke. With a Diavolo pasta that is only mildly spicy and easy even for people who can't handle heat, plus a fresh ricotta salad, Andrew is a satisfying pick for a solo meal or a date.

Why did I come back to Andrew near Sinjungdong Station in Bucheon?

Andrew is a Western-style brunch restaurant near Sinjungdong Station in Bucheon, and this was the writer's second time there for a weekend brunch. I went out for a little outing this weekend. I woke up from a long, lazy nap and started getting hungry. While wondering what to eat, I thought of Andrew, a well-known Bucheon date spot, and headed over.

What did I order for a solo meal at Andrew?

Since I was alone this time, I ordered a ricotta salad, Diavolo pasta and a Zero Coke. On my winter visit I had the risotto ragu and a pizza. Last time I came on a freezing winter day when the wind was slapping my cheeks. Coming back half a year later in summer brought back memories and was a real change of mood. Back then I ordered risotto ragu and pizza, but today, visiting solo, I went with the ricotta salad, the Diavolo pasta, and a Zero Coke, the dieter's last shred of conscience.

When is Andrew less crowded?

Andrew gets lots of customers at mealtimes, so this time I deliberately went at a quiet hour. When I came at mealtime last winter, the place was packed to the brim. The owner and staff are all so kind that I could relax and enjoy my brunch again today.

The chairs at Andrew look a lot like the ones I saw in Paris. In Paris there are so many chairs with little holes punched through them like this.

Where does Andrew's food come from, and what's on the menu?

Andrew openly displays the origin of its ingredients in the restaurant, and the owner reportedly makes the food, sauces and salads himself. That makes me trust the place even more.

Besides Western dishes, Andrew also sells a range of wines and café drinks. That's probably why it's quite popular with women too.

The warm-hearted owner also supports Save the Children. No wonder he was so kind and considerate. Sharing your own income with others isn't easy, so that's really admirable.

What's the interior and atmosphere of Andrew like?

Andrew's interior isn't over the top but has real atmosphere, and I liked it just as much the second time. I always think this is why female customers come so often to chat over brunch.

Does the food come out fast at Andrew?

At Andrew, when I ordered a Zero Coke they brought a glass of ice with it, and the food came out quickly too. On a humid summer day I couldn't not order a drink. It's a thoughtful touch to bring the ice glass along.

Also, that day I'd drunk a ton of Jerusalem artichoke tea to lower my blood sugar and felt really dizzy. So I was truly happy the food came out so fast.

How does Andrew's ricotta salad taste?

Andrew's ricotta salad had fresh cheese and crisp vegetables. As you'd expect from a Sinjungdong spot with word-of-mouth fame, the plating was quite lovely. The next table ordered the ricotta cheese salad too. When I took a big bite of the cheese, I could really feel how fresh it was. Not a single wilted leaf in the salad either, which I loved.

How spicy is Andrew's level-1 Diavolo pasta?

Andrew's level-1 Diavolo pasta is only slightly spicy, so even I, a total spice wimp, enjoyed it. This is the Diavolo pasta I'd ordered with high expectations. I'm a spice wimp, so I went with level 1. And this pasta was good! I was inwardly panicking about what to do if it was too hot, but it was only mildly spicy, which was great.

They also brought plenty of pickles, so I never ran short. For anyone wondering about Andrew's contact details, I brought back a business card! I filmed a menu video too.

Is Andrew good for a date or blind date?

If you're curious about brunch near Sinjungdong Station or looking for a date spot in Bucheon, I recommend Andrew. I think it would be a decent blind-date place too, even though I came alone, haha. Seriously, I don't know why Saturdays pass so fast.
