< Gangnam • Sinnonhyeon Station > I always felt there weren't many good mood cafés around here, but I recently found one I really love! 👀 Upper and Under had a great atmosphere and a wide variety of desserts ☕️

Where is Upper and Under near Sinnonhyeon Station?

Upper and Under is a café about a 5-minute walk from Exit 6 of Sinnonhyeon Station📍 With its brick exterior and the lush green trees beside the entrance, it's full of charm even before you step inside 〰️ 🌿

🏢 The whole building is run as a café. (From basement level 1 〰️ up to the 2nd floor)

How do you order at Upper and Under, and what is each floor like?

Go up the stairs on the right and order at the 1st-floor counter ✔️ Each floor has a slightly different mood, so you can sit wherever you like best! 😇👍

Plants of all kinds are placed all around the café, giving it a relaxed feel. It was a mood café where you can stay comfortably in the middle of the busy city 😌✨

Baked goods by the 1st-floor counter

Next to the 1st-floor counter is Upper and Under's lineup of < baked goods > 🍪🤎 Financiers, madeleines, canelés, pies and more, and they look pretty too!

Seating, restrooms and weekend lunch crowds

Upper and Under has plenty of seats, and the men's and women's restrooms are on the 1st floor 〰️ 🚻 I loved the seats by the big picture windows, but at weekend lunch they were already full 🥹

Square cakes in the display case

Besides the baked goods, the showcase has cute-sized < square cakes > 🧁🎀 With flavors like lemon, yangzhi ganlu (a mango-pomelo-sago dessert), raspberry and mango, there were lots of choices 〰️

What is the 2nd-floor terrace at Upper and Under like?

The 2nd floor of Upper and Under has both indoor seats and outdoor terrace seats 🪴 Personally, it was my favorite floor: the ceiling is high, and the spacing between tables and the space overall are roomier than on the other floors! haha

What I ordered at Upper and Under

An iced Americano (ah-ah) that goes well with desserts, plus a sweet cream coffee that you'd regret not ordering, so I ordered both 🙆🏻‍♀️ After ordering, you pick up at the counter when the buzzer goes off 〰️ 🛎️

Einspänner: balanced sweetness and creamy aroma

When you sip it straight down, the sweet cream and the coffee underneath blend into a great combination, this Einspänner ☁️ Sometimes an Einspänner is too sweet or the cream flavor is too strong, but Upper and Under's was perfectly balanced 👍

Canelé dipped in Einspänner cream

A canelé (French caramelized custard pastry) that's crisp outside and moist inside 🤎 It's tasty on its own, but dipping it into the Einspänner cream adds extra sweetness and made it something special ⭐️

A tiramisu that isn't too sweet

Cream, a soft cake sheet and a faint bittersweet coffee flavor come together in this tiramisu 🍰☕️ I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a dessert that isn't overly sweet!
