Guro, Seoul bar for cheese fries and DIY cotton candy: Eulji Pocha

In short

Eulji Pocha Guro Digital Complex Branch is a retro event bar in Guro, Seoul, near Exit 2 of Guro Digital Complex Station, open until 6am. The writer had cheese-powder fries and Euljiro bulsuji (spicy stir-fried beef tendon), then used coins for Eulji photo strips, dalgona and cotton candy making. Eulji Pocha is a good Guro bar for nights when you want to take photos, try the games and stay out late.

It's about 200m from Guro Digital Complex Station Exit 2, so just step into the alley a little and you'll see this Guro Digital Complex Station bar right away! The blue sign and the menu banners lined up at the entrance stand out, so it's not hard to find even on a first visit haha

Lots of different anju (bar snacks), low prices, and it's an event pocha (Korean-style tavern) with all kinds of things going on. That's kind of the point of this place 😘

Interior atmosphere of Eulji Pocha Guro Digital Complex Branch

What are the atmosphere and seating like at Eulji Pocha Guro Digital Complex Branch?

Inside, dim lighting, neon glow and metal tables create a retro pocha mood. Seating is generous and the space is open, so it looked fine for two people or a big company dinner.

Once inside, it was full of dim lights and neon, with metal tables, a textbook retro pocha vibe! 😎 There are plenty of seats and the space is wide open, so it's good for a casual drink for two and looked fine for a group dinner too.

Besides ordering at the table, there are claw machines, a photo booth, and experience spots like dalgona and cotton candy, so it feels like there's more to do than at a place that's only for drinking haha

Eulji Stationery coin usage guide

How do the Eulji Stationery coins work?

According to the Eulji Stationery (을지문방구) notice at the entrance, you get coins depending on your order amount or by joining events, and you can use them for cotton candy, dalgona, snacks, claw machines, ice cream and Eulji photo strips. There was plenty to look at while waiting for the food, so the mood never got boring haha 😌

How were the cheese-powder fries as a first-round snack?

The fries came out first, heaped in a little bucket-shaped bowl. Long, thin fries were generously coated in cheese powder, easy to pick up one by one.

They were crispy outside and fluffy inside, with a strong salty, nutty flavor, a good light start with the first drink. The portion wasn't a tiny free-side kind of thing; it was enough for two to share generously, and we kept reaching for them while chatting before the main dish arrived hahaha

They aren't too thick, so they stayed less soggy as time passed and I could eat them to the end without feeling weighed down 🩵 Familiar dishes like this somehow vanish the fastest lol

How does the Euljiro bulsuji stir-fry taste?

Eulji Pocha's Euljiro bulsuji stir-fry (을지로불스지볶음, fire-grilled beef tendon) has a strong smoky char, and a sweet start that leaves a spicy kick behind. The tendon was springy and chewy.

The smoky flavor hits right away, so it feels like proper drinking food the moment it arrives! 😎 The tendon is bouncy yet chewy, with soft collagen parts mixed with chewier bits, and it gets nuttier the more you chew.

The sauce isn't just sweet; a spicy kick lingers behind it and makes you think of another sip. Alternating it with the salty, nutty fries worked surprisingly well haha

After finishing most of the meal, we used our coins on the things to do inside Eulji Pocha Guro Digital Complex Branch. From the spot where you write song requests to the claw machines and photo booth, it's all gathered on one side, so there's no time to be bored T_T haha

Making dalgona yourself

For dalgona (honeycomb candy), you do everything yourself, starting with melting sugar in a small ladle. If you're a 90s kid, you've all done this, right? ^^ Stir slowly over low heat until the sugar melts clear, then add baking soda and the color brightens as it puffs up.

Even the part of pressing a shape into it on the iron plate brought back memories of the stalls in front of school, so I got oddly focused lol I was careful not to press too hard in case it cracked, and the process itself was really fun haha 😆

Trying the cotton candy machine

At the cotton candy machine, you wind sugar threads around a stick to make your own cotton candy! At first the shape won't behave, but it's fun watching it grow bigger, and doing something like this inside a bar is pretty unusual. Food, drinks, photos and snacks are all handled in one spot, so the mood is great for making memories with friends! 🔥🥰

When is Eulji Pocha Guro Digital Complex Branch a good choice?

On food alone, Eulji Pocha Guro Digital Complex Branch is a place with a variety of spicy pocha snacks to pick from, and with the space added it's closer to an indoor pocha with lots to do. Ordering at each table is set up to be easy, and the seating is generous, so a big group won't feel cramped.

The dim lighting and neon colors also come out well in photos, so it's perfect for birthday gatherings or when friends want a lively mood 😎 Rather than a quiet bar for conversation, it especially suits days when you want to take photos, try activities and play for a long time, a rare Guro Digital Complex Station bar 😇

Next time I'd like to order a soup dish or yuringi (Korean-style fried chicken in a tangy sauce) too. If you're looking for a pocha in Gudi where you can play until dawn, this is the place!! I'd go again :)
