What is Bear Chateau Market in Pyeonggeo-dong, Jinju like?
Bear Chateau Market (베어스츄리마켓) is a bakery café famous for its salt bread, at 34-8 Saedeulmal-ro, 1st floor, Jinju. It's open Wednesday to Sunday, 11:00–19:00, and closed every Monday and Tuesday (check Naver for the latest hours).
Don't you sometimes crave a plain, buttery salt bread? Today was exactly that kind of day, so I went with a friend to Bear Chateau Market, a salt bread favorite in Pyeonggeo-dong, Jinju.

Parking and how to find Bear Chateau Market
There's no parking lot of its own, so use a nearby public lot or park on the street. Come in through the alley across from LH Complex 5 and you can't miss it, since the shop isn't small!

The salt bread is the BEST seller 🥖🥖 and the vanilla bean latte seems to be a hit too. The americano price is really kind, too.

Atmosphere and seating at Bear Chateau Market
The interior is cozy with wood tones, and the air conditioning was blasting, so it felt so cool the moment we walked in,,

The tables are arranged in different ways, from basic 2-seaters to 4-seaters. The weekday afternoon was relaxed, which I liked, but when I came on a weekend I remember the shop being packed. Customers were of all ages, and lots of people were boxing up bread to take away.

There are sofa seats with outlets underneath.. The inside doesn't feel cramped, so it would be great even with a group of friends, and there are high chairs too, so it's fine to visit with kids.

This was my favorite spot. The cute yellow lamp is the highlight.

Counter, review event and drinks
The counter feels simple and classy. If you order ₩12,000 or more, you can join the Naver review event and get a financier!

The drink lineup, with coffee, ade and non-coffee options, was better than I expected. Coffee comes as a double shot in a 16oz size. They also run a zero-waste challenge: bring your own dessert container or tumbler and you get 500 points! Such a good idea,, 😳 good

Gift wrapping is available too 🕊️ A large box is ₩1,000 and a small box is ₩500.

Is there still bread left after 2 p.m. at Bear Chateau Market?
We got there after 2 p.m. and a decent variety of bread was still left. When the salt bread sells out they restock midway, so it's clearly a top seller. Dessert introduction time ⋆。𖦹

The plates differ depending on whether you take out or eat in! We were staying, so we used the round, cute plates. I put the salt bread on first.

Pastries were the biggest category here. Last time I took home a nunettine (a flaky, sweet pastry) and it was so crisp and sweet, a bread nobody could dislike ㅜ,,, The almond croissant looks so good too.

On the other side there's ciabatta. The sweet pumpkin and sweet potato one or the gorgonzola cheese one both looked so good to me.

The showcase also had a low-sugar chestnut red bean bun, which was quietly popular. They sell a low-sugar rice castella too, but it was sold out. Today I was in the mood for light, nutty breads rather than heavy ones, so I'll definitely try it next time.

What we ordered at Bear Chateau Market, and the prices
- Iced americano ₩3,500
- Café latte ₩4,500
- Crack salt bread ₩3,000
- White roll ₩6,000
- Gorgonzola cheese (ciabatta) ₩4,800
- Honey ₩800

How does the crack salt bread taste?
The crack salt bread (₩3,000) was crisp and not too greasy, a textbook version. Doesn't the salt bread look like a model? Wait there, I'll eat you soon 𓂃 𓂂𓏸

They warm it when you order, and the smell of butter wafts up~ The crack salt bread tastes like the classic done right. It's crunchy, not too oily, and the bottom is crisp. I understood right away why it's the best-selling item! If you take it away, definitely heat it in an air fryer at home. I'd love to try the salt bread that comes out fresh every day at 12.

Does the white roll go well with coffee?
The white roll (₩6,000) is chewy and sweet, and it went so well with coffee. Nobody dislikes a white roll, right..? The downside is that it just keeps going down ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I couldn't stop. It isn't just sweet; the cream flavor is nicely balanced overall. If you're taking your parents, put the white roll in your basket without question 🧺

Gorgonzola cheese ciabatta, with honey drizzled on top
The gorgonzola cheese ciabatta (₩4,800, honey ₩800) had a stronger gorgonzola flavor than I expected, and it was chewy. I'd planned to stop at two breads, but it was so good that I ordered the ciabatta right away.. In the end, a menu item I was so glad I ordered!
I thought the gorgonzola would be subtle, but it's stronger than expected. It's a natural-sourdough ciabatta, so it's very chewy and nutty. That made it even better, and I'd heard drizzling the honey on top is tastier than dipping, so I drizzled it right away. And again it was warmed for us, so it felt freshly baked, which I loved.
How is the coffee at Bear Chateau Market?
The coffee sits between heavy and light. They say they use Seonho Coffee beans. It's nutty with no sourness and goes down smoothly. Tasty and reasonably priced!

Would I go back to Bear Chateau Market?
Would I return? 100,, ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ You can feel the heart they put into their bread at Bear Chateau Market, so do pay a visit. Highly recommended.
